Holy bajesus just looked at iPad's on the Canadian Best Buy site and apparently you now need a mortgage to buy one, the new iPad Mini 4 is $440 bahahaha and that's the small one Check out the BlackFriday sales page on line for BB, Im pretty sure they will be $100. To $150. Off. Do Canadians have BlackmFriday? Sales? Well we do have it now but IMO just another scheme of sales where there is a few good deals with limited stock to get you in the store

Tidal new trial member here! Breeze to set up, just poking around and listening to someone I think ive heard of but never gave a try! Pretty cool right now! Good sound, ill have to compare to Pandora One. Im controlling my Oppo 103 with an Ipad using Media Player for Oppo, what a breeze. Watching the game or turn off the TV, works fine. Also, Ive desided to wait and see with El Capitan, its not broken,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Happy for now, dont think I would have tried it without the first three months free,,,,,,,,,,I shall see! But it may hurt my vinyl collection, It doesn't sound that good,,,,,,,,to me! IMHO

Tidal is giving me fits. When it first came out, I created a trial account & then let it go since I couldn't make it stream to my stereo.
When I try to create a new account, Tidal won't let me - I already have an account.
When I try to sign in to my existing account, Tidal won't let me - the account isn't paid for.
How do I dope-slap them to allow me to enter my authorization code?

Novisnick, be sure to check "Hi-Fi" in Tidal settings - that's 16/44, CD quality resolution.
Pandora can't come close to that......

Mark, I think you can adjust the buffer size in Tidal settings, try that. and are your internet and wifi speeds robust? My internet speeds are quite robust, and my Wifi typically is also - just to make sure Wifi robustness is not the issue, I plugged my Sonos unit in hard wired, and I will try that. The initial test was a bomb...still cutting out right and left. That said, I was still controlling via my Android tablet, and it has to send/receive its signal via WiFi. So, I went over to the hard-wired PC in my office and started playing a random album via Tidal - so far so good. I turned off the Sonos controller from my hard wired PC and am now relying on the tablet. So far so good, but I will have to give it a bit to see how reliable it is. And, FYI, given I am not running Tidal from a PC, I can't adjust buffer size or anything...I just take what Sonos does (which normally works great for other sources...). I use my Nexus 10 tablet (or Droid Maxx phone) as the remote to control my Sonos, select Tidal or other sources from the Sonos, and the signal goes out to my XMC-1. I will also try it via my other Sonos units around the house...time for a shave and shower, so maybe I will try that unit now! Mark

But I think the buffer requirement adjustment is within the Tidal settings?
In any case, keep at it!!

I think it may adjust the buffer size required by Tidal for each app (mobile, home etc.
I'll check mine later.....but see if you have any dropouts on lower resolution streaming for a clue.

Go to settings on iPad general/safari/clear history Clear your web browser Uninstall TIDAL Shut off your iPad...power it down, do not just shut it off Power up iPad Reinstall TIDAL I am not running mine from an iPad or computer...I am running mine via SONOS. I do control the Sonos with either my phone or tablet (both Android). I will clear their history and try tomorrow once the wife is done standing movies with her sisters. But,we may be having different problems. Mark Then just let me add this. My friend has SONOS. When I am visiting I use my iPad or IPhone with the downloaded SONOS APP. When I open the SONOS app a drop down appears and Tidal is listed amongst others from whom I can get my music. If you have the TIDAL app on your phone and tablet you should be able to open SONOS with a drop down that allows you to choose TIDAL as a source for music. I am using TIDAL in my system via APPLE TV. So basically at my fiends house (SONOS) I using the same operational system as you thru their wifi. Hope this helps and sorry if I did not understand your post. F

I think that there may be no way to activate my (expired) Tidal account. "Voucher numbers," according to the Tidal website, are for new accounts only. I could, theoretically, set up another email account & register as a new customer, but this is exactly the type of complication that I want to avoid.
After 15 minutes of searching the Tidal website, I finally found a link to email them. I've asked for their instructions. If the Best Buy code will be unusable, I'll return it for a refund & do without Tidal.
If I can use the code, do I need to authorize the Oppo, the iPad, or both as a Tidal device? I want the fewest devices in the chain as possible while still maintaining a control interface from the iPad.
Thanks...

The independent Windows App does not have any settings for buffering. That's first thing I checked when there was problems. I just checked again, and they have not introduced any such settings. I also just checked and could not find any settings related to streaming or buffering on the account settings (online). (The standalone app of course allows one to select the quality of the streaming, but not buffer sizes). I was able to pin down the stuttering on my laptop to the combined Broadcom Wifi / Bluetooth chip. This one chip handles both communications, and uses one driver for both protocols. It turns out that if I have an incoming Wireless-g stream, and outgoing BT stream, the driver sporadically runs at 100% CPU, causing the stuttering. So there is some bug in the Broadcom driver. I was not able to find any advanced settings that would fix the issue (shared / non-shared BT, etc). Now, interestingly, this issue is not present when using Wireless-a protocol (of the same Broadcom chip). So the bug is only on the wireless-g part of the driver. Unfortunately my dedicated combined wireless a/g/n router broke last summer, so I was stuck with using wireless-g (available on the cable modem provided by the cable company), presenting stuttering. Good old Ethernet is handled by a different chip and driver, and has no issues. So now I have pulled a long thin Ethernet cable from the router in the living room to near the couch where I sit, so that I can hook it up whenever I use Tidal. No problems...except when someone turns on the microwave...but that is another story

When I open the SONOS app a drop down appears and Tidal is listed amongst others from whom I can get my music. If you have the TIDAL app on your phone and tablet you should be able to open SONOS with a drop down that allows you to choose TIDAL as a source for music. I have that figured out - works the same on my Droid Sonos app. But, there are no settings to adjust there like Bill is suggesting. So far, it's working well around the house with my other Sonos units, but it was having challenges with the one unit. Ironically, the one unit that was having trouble (named "Mancave" in my system) was closest to the unit that was hardwired originally, so I would think that the Mancave unit would be fully able to get data wirelessly from the base unit given its proximity to the base. (For those not familiar w/Sonos, you hardwire one unit to pull all source data off your internal and external network, then Sonos sets up its own wireless network within your house to distribute that signal to all other Sonos units in your home. And, you control all the units from an app on your PC or any smart device using your home's wifi network. I have 8 different units within my house. And I just used 3 of the other units at once...the "Great Room" and "Kitchen" units were grouped and playing holiday music for my wife, and the "Hot Tub/Bedroom" unit was playing Otis Redding for me as I got cleaned up. Those 3 were working fine w/no skips.) I will have to spend more time listening on the Mancave unit to see if hardwiring it helped or not. FYI, the wife seems to be enjoying Tidal so far now that I steered her to the holiday music playlist. And, she already learned how to make her own Tidal playlist. I have liked looking up music I don't have on hard copy and listening, like Thurston Moore's solo stuff, Otis Redding, Grace Potter, Yello's "Oh Yeah" (to test my sub!), and one ZZ Top album I don't have. If it will be reliable...it will be a keeper. Mark

I decided to try another route. I went ahead and created a new email address, logged into Tidal as a new user with that address, & set up a new account (assuming that somewhere in the process it would prompt me to enter an authorization code). Nope. Now I try to enter a code for the new account, and it says that the NEW account is an existing one and that I can't use the authorization code. I'm glad that novisnick got his working without trouble, but mine is kicking my butt again and again. After lunch, I'll go by the BestBuy & see if they can't straighten it out. Until then, I'm not too fond of Tidal. Boom

You're entirely right, audiobill. My temper sometimes does get the best of me (particularly when I'm repeatedly frustrated in what should be a simple task). I'll hold my judgement until I let the salesman assist. Boom
