Hi, had a nasty storm a couple of days ago and my 1L's are in stand by, amber light on, when powering up the system both left and right 1L's are in protection mode. Just discovered this, and late in the evening so not going to check fuses if that is what it is. Then again if a fuse was blown I would't expect to see units in stand by even. My son's 1L's in his bedroom are having the same problem but my 3 UPA-1's and UPA-2 seem fine. Just seems to be a problem on the 1L's with what ever occured Any idea what could be wrong before I pull the covers off tomorrow and check fuses?
Cheers

Just as a sidenote, went outside and turned off the circuit breakers on the circuit all audio stuff is on. Flipped back on and now the when powering up the amps the blue channel light comes on, no flashing , but the amps turn themself off back to standby after a few seconds. Edit Also now unplugged everything from the amp, speaker leads and trigger leads and turned amp on with just power connected and same thing, powers up, blue channel light for a few secs and amp turns itself off. I would assume this would hold true for all all 4 1L's in the house as they are all displaying same symptoms. Hope it's nothing beyond a fuse

Did you try flipping off the power switch on the back of amp and unplugging the amp

Possibly something in the power supply, sounds like a Capacitor maybe. Best bet, give Emotiva support a ring Monday. Sorry about your audio situation.

Not sure what is going on, but if 4 XPA-1L's all go at the same time with same problem, Emo's inbuilt surge protection stuff would be atrocious and not worth writing home about. Hoping its a simpler fix

Sounds lke you got hit with a surge. It's a bummer, but other than fuses it may be time to exercise the warranty.
Had lightning strike a tree in my backyard once and the result was interesting. I had no damage and my neighbor lost a few things.

There is nothing that will protect you from the effects of a close-up lightning strike.... The surge protection in our equipment will protect it against "a typical in-home surge"; a heavy-duty plug in surge protector will stop more; a whole-house "surge protection system" will stop something bigger; but even the big "gas charged explosive disconnect with magnetic arc breaker" that often protects power substations will sometimes fail to block the surge from a really close lightning strike; it's all relative... Possibly something in the power supply, sounds like a Capacitor maybe. Best bet, give Emotiva support a ring Monday. Sorry about your audio situation. There was no lightning or thunder, just a heavy downpour. I was at work, about 10 km from home and remember the rain falling. My son who was at home tells me the power was off for a couple of hours and the reconnection was a bit shaky it seems. Took a few goes before power was restored to normal, so power off and on from the grid I guess. My pair of 1L's are on 2 seperate 20 amp circuits even, circuit breakers did not engage, my son's pair of L1's are on the general house circuit, in his bedroom. It's daylight now and I will have a look at the fuses a bit later on and see if that is the problem. But I don't have a good feeling, i would think if fuses were blown the units wouldn't be powered on.

The amps are pretty good at dealing with brown outs. I've had quite a few times when the amps will go in to protection before power goes out completely. I'm lucky that my UPA-2 has been functinong flawlessly. I hope you find a solution to your XPA-1L problem! I know it's always tough when gear doesn't work. Those are great amps.

Good news, they are working again, both fuses inside each unit had blown. Replaced with the supplied spare ones and it's all operational again. Just my son needs to do his amps still, but would suspect they need fuse replacing too. Wonder why the 1L's seem more prone to fuse failure, all the rest of my gear is ok, and all of the four 1L's blew, must be something different about them. Happy that it was just the fuses though, warranty servicing bit of a hassle in Australia.
Cheers

Nice! Hope that's all mine needs as I have one doing it out of the pair I just got less then 2 months ago used from jadendesign (emotiva eBay store).
Are they easy to see and reach??
The one was flashing orange and then go solid orange. The first 2 times it did it is was able to finally get it back on solid blue but the 3rd time nothing but orange. Everytime it happend it was just watching a normal TV show.. no stress and one time it was doing nothing at all as in it was using the TV speakers.

Opened up my xpa-1l while waiting to hear back from emotiva and found the fuses easily and of course 1 is black!
So since emotiva sold me 2 used amps neither came with extra fuses nor power cords. And I thought I may get lucky and find some fuses in my old xpa-2 and 3 boxes but nope! Neither were new from emotiva and don't have extra fuses as well.
Checked my xps-1 box that's also used from emotiva and it had fuses but those were not even close to the one I need. :/
No one has one locally so Friday night family movie night is dead. Holiday weekend is here and I'll probably be stuck with TV audio for 2 weeks waiting on a fuse.

I checked both online and don't look like they carry anything close to the small size I need.

I usually use these guys for finding electronics parts. Radio Shack when I was a kid was great. Now, if you can still find one. The selection of parts has much disappeared from the catalog or store. www.digikey.com/

Hit a menards after dinner on the way home and they had a crap load of fuses but no chance at a 14 amp 240v fuse. Anything over a 5amp fuse was too long. It's a small 3/4" fuse and over 5amps are 1 inch long or more.
Gona have to wait.

If the thing blows again I'll be buying a bunch of them.
