You can use a smaller (less than 14A) fuse that fits, with no risk to the gear. It'll save movie-night and is more likely to blow sooner, but that's fine. It's going higher that you increase the risk of damage to your gear.

Now the problem is growing! The other xpa-1l is now doing it this morning!
So now I'm really freaked out. Is it heat? A XLR cable, trigger wire, speaker cables, rca to the xsp-1?
With both doing this I'm thinking it's either heat or something wrong with the xsp-1.
Possible to have 2 bad 2 month not even old mono price XLR cables? We're used the whole time never had this issue prior.
Really everything has been the same the whole time.
I'm pretty sure each amp is on a different cmx-2 shared with one other amp on a seperate dedicated 30 amp breaker.
No other amps are doing anything wrong. The TV and receiver is also on the other dedicated 30 amp breaker.
I'm thinking either heat.. (but it's been hotter then this and we have the air on.) Or the xsp-1 gen 2 from emotiva.
I may just put the xpa-2 gen 1 back on the xsp-1 and see if anything happens.

Only other thing used is a multi trigger from emotiva. But I've unplugged it and it still does the flashing orange light.

Now after looking at it all and letting the amp cool down I fire it up this time with the emotiva trigger unplugged. Power it on manually and trun the radio on.. only left channel is working and it's staying on atm. Wait and see what happens when it heats up.
Run it like this and see what happends. If it's fine them I'll just wire up the triggers without the emotiva trigger and hope that was it.

Ran like that for a half hour no prob.
Thrn later on the kids wsnted to watch rv so i was happy to turn it o and told thrm to tell me if the light goes orange. The button again started flashing orange!Turned it off!
No idea other then something is wrong with the first generation xpa-1l or the xsp-1 gen 2 is doing it as my xpa-2 and 3 that's not connected to the xsp1 are totally fine as always.

Next step is to remove the xsp-1. Connect the reviewer direct to the xpa-1l. If it's fine then it's the xsp-1 or the power conditioner that the xsp-1 is connected to.

No no way.. it's for the TV and the rest of the stuff. I have the xsp-1 on it also. It's not an amp. View Attachment

Did not get a chance to do anything yesterday.. kids were using the TV and then we watched my big fat Greek wedding 2 last night using just the TV speakers which is fine for that type of movie.
Plan is to first attempt to remove the xsp-1 and run the last xpa-1l off the receiver. If it still does it then there's no prob with the xsp-1.
Honestly with both doing this flashing orange lights I'm leaning to some common issue with the xpa-1ls since I remember hearing about the problems with them back when..
If it was just one then it may be something wrong with a rca/XLR cable or power cord.. but both and no other problems with the other 2 amps or anything else?
Something they may of corrected with the newer gen 2?

I mentioned this in another post. Eclypse, I would send the units back to Emotiva and have them gone over. I know of three buyers in the last six months that have received faulty equipment through the jadedesign store. No idea if it is expansion and growing pains but whatever it is, I think issues are being overlooked. Big Dan piped in on one thread and he was very disappointed that people were having issues through the Ebay store. Two different buyers with Sherbourn amps and receivers as well as someone else with an Emotiva amp problem tells me something in the shipping/inspection areas of the Ebay sales are amiss. I am sure Emotiva will hook you up and get things squared away. I have bought at least a half dozen Emotiva and Sherbourn pieces from the jadedesign store and I have not had a problem with anything (fingers crossed)

Yes when I bought these they were listed as new returns from amazon store gen 2. I get them and 1 is new gen 2 and the other is used gen 1. So they cut me a deal on going with 2 used gen 1s since they did not have another new gen2. Neither unit had the accessory box and no power cords.. took some time to get it all squared away. Still seems fishy that basilly they both take a poop at the same time with no issues prior. And not even stressing the amps when it always happens. Just watching regular tv. Just hate to send them back and they say there's nothing wrong with them.. which is what I hear a lot around here. Sad but currently doubt I could afford the shipping.

Finally got around to testing the one xpa-1l amp tonight for a couple of hours.
First swapped out the XLR cable for a rca from the xsp-1. Ran for awhile while watching tv.. but wasn't doing much as the center channel was mostly used during the food network (wife watching). I'd say after 20 mins it went to flashing orange light till I turned the amp off.
Then I changed out the main level l and r rca cables going to xsp-1 and used the same XLR back on the xpa-1l. Same..
Then I went straight from the receiver to the amp bypassing the xsp-1. Same..
All the time the amp was watching TV with like no stress and the top whole right side was burning hot. It's always in a/b mode. So hot it feels like it could burn your hand.
So I grab my dmm along with the thermal cable to take a reading. Says the inside right of the amp was 172 degrees f.
So I wait a few mins for it to cool off and then this time I keep the thermal sensor inside the amp in between the heatsink Finns but not touching while it's runing to see just hot hot it gets when it goes into protect mode.
Showed 166 f! The middle where the other heatsink is, is barely warm and the left side is cool to the touch. My other amps xpa-3 and 2 have maybe 2 inches of clearance on the shelf and are cold to the touch. Xpa-3 was doing all the work on the center speaker during this test and was cold haha.
Took a reading of the room.. shows 82 up there at the time. The livingroom is a loft upstairs. Yes it's always warm up there in the summer.
Even with the ceiling fan runing the amp gets too hot. It's on the top of the TV Stand with nothing around them.
So.. if this is thermo protection that's going on then what to do??
I have plenty of pc fans but no way to plug them in to use them.
Is there something out there I can put on top to pull the heat out of the amp that won't look ghetto??
Fuses are coming tomorrow for the other amp.

A Sherbourn C12 sits atop my 7 channel PA-350 amp and it keeps things cool as and when needed. Pretty good investment as heat is the enemy of electronics.

Currently I have a laptop cooler on top of the amp right over the right side vents. It's set up with 3 120mm fans but even at full power it's not that great with the stupid screen they have over the fans to prevent good air flow. It's working as planned as its forsure sacking up hot air.
I have the thermo probe stuck in between the heatsink fins.
Tempt currently upstairs is 79 f. It's still early and it will probably get back up to 85+ before the day is over.
Reads 130-133 degrees f. If it gets to 165 it will probably go into protect mode.
It's only gona be used for a test run.
If it holds up for at least an hour I'll pretty much know it's heat related.
No cash for any exotic cooling atm. Could make something to get by if needed.
Don't really understand why a box that gets this hot isint using active cooling??

Yup.. as soon as I get done writing the above I go upstairs and see that it's flashing yellow again:(
Last ditch effort test. I've now removed the power from the cmx-2 gen 2 and the dedicated power line to the house outlet just to say I've tested everything.
When that fails alla that's left to try is to move the amp to the basement where it's 66 degrees f and hook it up to the setup down there. If it goes into protect mode then I know without a doubt it's not heat related.
