Just finished opening the lid and inspecting the amp. Don't see anything wrong with it. Nothing burnt. No damaged capacitors. No cables loose and fuses are good.

Got the 2 new fuses in he mail..Opened the amp and now notice that both fuses blew and not just the one. Ok.. now I'm freaking cause if one goes I'm out for awhile again.
Anyways I hooked it all back up.. both of them and runing some lynyard skyward and on the 4th or 5th song.
Also last run on the other amp I played threw Fleetwood Mac rumours album twice. ??
No idea.. maybe they like good music and want to jam?
Emailed cs again about these..
Gremlins??

So at dinner time I shut them off.. about an hour or so I go back up to test some more and went to play another cd on the oppo and as soon as the music started the one with the replaced fuses was off!?? Flipped the power switch on the back and hit the button to turn it on and it would go blue and right away back to orange. Over and over I tried and nothing.. shunned a flash light in the cover to check the fuses and I think there ok.. I'm really not in the mood to remove the cover once again.
These are some strange amps. It should be good or not!

Finally got around to testing the one xpa-1l amp tonight for a couple of hours. First swapped out the XLR cable for a rca from the xsp-1. Ran for awhile while watching tv.. but wasn't doing much as the center channel was mostly used during the food network (wife watching). I'd say after 20 mins it went to flashing orange light till I turned the amp off. Then I changed out the main level l and r rca cables going to xsp-1 and used the same XLR back on the xpa-1l. Same.. Then I went straight from the receiver to the amp bypassing the xsp-1. Same.. All the time the amp was watching TV with like no stress and the top whole right side was burning hot. It's always in a/b mode. So hot it feels like it could burn your hand. So I grab my dmm along with the thermal cable to take a reading. Says the inside right of the amp was 172 degrees f.So I wait a few mins for it to cool off and then this time I keep the thermal sensor inside the amp in between the heatsink Finns but not touching while it's runing to see just hot hot it gets when it goes into protect mode. Showed 166 f! The middle where the other heatsink is, is barely warm and the left side is cool to the touch. My other amps xpa-3 and 2 have maybe 2 inches of clearance on the shelf and are cold to the touch. Xpa-3 was doing all the work on the center speaker during this test and was cold haha. Took a reading of the room.. shows 82 up there at the time. The livingroom is a loft upstairs. Yes it's always warm up there in the summer. Even with the ceiling fan runing the amp gets too hot. It's on the top of the TV Stand with nothing around them. So.. if this is thermo protection that's going on then what to do?? I have plenty of pc fans but no way to plug them in to use them. Is there something out there I can put on top to pull the heat out of the amp that won't look ghetto?? Fuses are coming tomorrow for the other amp. It sounds like you might have a problem with the bias. It may not be switching to A/B mode and staying in A.

Next step is to remove the xsp-1. Connect the reviewer direct to the xpa-1l. If it's fine then it's the xsp-1 or the power conditioner that the xsp-1 is connected to. Amps and a power conditioner??? Do you consider the CMX-2 a power conditioner? I use one on my amp in the Office system as something my son sometimes plugs in causes a slight hum. I have no problems.

It does sound like it's an issue with the amp.

What is the bias?

Its an electrical switch. Not a switch that moves back and forth. When current hits a specific point it triggers a change in the circuit. They are typically set (bias adjustment) with an adjustable pot(entiometer).

You need to know where to put you DMM and what voltage you're looking for.
I've done it on a few Carver amps and those were touchy and if you went too high you could fry the output board.
