This morning was a sad start of the day. My XSP-1 won't turn on anymore. It is on standby, when I press the button it clicks, then it turns completely dark and goes back to standby. Please, please tell me this is something simple? I'm overseas I can't afford to send it in before the holidays . Thanks!

My uncle has one and if I recall he had to unplug it to get it to work/reset? He may have also unplugged his interconnects to it as well but I can't remember? I think it happened after a power outage.
Hope this helps, good luck!

I agree. Power it down and try it again.

Obviously I tried that. But I just tried it again after several hours being disconnected and now it turns on.
Quirk or is there some logic behind this? Is it a sign of a premature failure?

I can't answer your question but I have found that a good, firm push of the button switch works better than a light touch. There was a time when the illuminated button switch on my XSP-1 went greenish as if it was half off/half on. No more light touch to turn on/off and since then no problems.

Thanks for the help guys.
Hopefully it will stay away and it was just a hickup that required a few hours off the grid.

wizardofoz could illuminate something about this behavior possibly.... I think there were some older XSP-1 gen 2 units that had trouble with 220 V power.

I think it has a microprocessor to control the protection circuits and other miscellaneous functions. Probably does need to be reset from time to time.

This morning it did it again. I left it on standby and tried again when I came home (no disconnect from power). It turned on without a problem
The only difference I can see is temperature. At night the room is 16C,when I came home 20C.

At night the room is 16C,when I came home 20C. To us in the U.S. that's only 4 degrees. LOL. Celsius is just too coarse of a scale IMO. The human body can detect a half degree F temp -and most female bodies can detect .000001 deg F temp change. Do you think you might have a sticking switch? Are you able to call (toll free) Tech Service and ask what's going on. They are also very responsive to emails.

I made a mistake. I thought you were referring to the phono pre amp. My uncle has the XPS-1. My bad.

Ive seen G1 and G2 units fail on 240VAC - they basically have the same power supply maybe with a V05 or V06 on the board.
Its a bit of a fiddle to get the internal shielding cover off as it has to and bottom screws, but its fairly easy to replace the power board. It does the power no only for the standby but also the main pre power.
I even quite a few of these over the last couple years and never any issue that the power board didn't fix. Just got a new board from Emotiva yesterday clearly bagged as 240VAC on the package so there is perhaps a difference or mod that is done - not sure what that it yet.
Often the standby rectifiers seem to fried (maybe from a spike or surge - these are part of the voltage auto detect side of things too - and often the resulting fail can cause the unit to drop into 120V detected and pop a fuse or 2 or 3 inside to save things.
can PM for more info - but drop the support guys an email and I am sure they will take care of you.
You might just need to find someone that is more comfortable opening it up to replace the board if you are not so techie.
