I have really enjoyed my XMC-1.
The freeze on boot issue has struck my unit, where the processor will start booting as normal, but will not progress to full turn-on after the blue progress bar on the display goes all the way to the right. Power cycling won't fix it.
It is on its way to service, but reading the forums, there seem to have been a fair number of people who have been affected by this problem.
Does anyone know what the root cause is, and what is the long term remediation?

I actually have never heard of the issue, andi have followed the XMC very closely (and own one). Once you get word on yours, please share your learning here. I have never (knock on wood) had the issue with mine.

This problem just struck me. My XMC-1 was working great Monday night, but today, it is stuck right at the end of the boot up process. Very frustrating.

I have never (knock on wood) had the issue with mine. Mark Not too surprising based on what I have seen here, my ECC was bad and was replaced and is on its way back to me. I asked whether there was any kind of systemic issue with these boards, and was informed that no, there wasn't, it is just a very complex board which can fail from time to time. There is a good chance that all my settings are gone, won't know until I get the unit back. Found out that one can back up settings to USB, good to know for the future, but won't help me if the settings are all gone. USB settings don't save Dirac, but that is available anyway. I should re-run my Dirac measurements at any rate.

Confirmed my ECC is bad. Tech Support was thorough and very cordial. Boxed her up, and she will be on her way back to the mother ship shortly. In the meantime, my BDP-105 has been pressed into service as a pre/pro for my satellite and ATV. My UMC-200 does not have balanced outputs for sound, so there wasn't much point in placing it into the system. This means I have "TV Sound" for now, as I am not willing to run unbalanced ICs to the amps [XPA-7 for the 5 channels and the SW line to the Sub rosa sub]. They are in a closet away from my media room, so neither the look nor the length/SQ of the exposed ICs is a desirable outcome.
