Did anyone else see that Darko uploaded a review of Gumby to his website? Apparently the Gumby sounds like a lime tastes, or some schiit like that. I don't know why I read his reviews.

What kind of lime? That makes all the difference, ya know. Key lime, no. Lime and the coconut, I say "doctor...." And that sounds good! Mark

Got my Schiit, finally! (That never gets old) It's warming up as we speak. The "get a better source" light it on, as I kinda figured with the Airport Express. It doesn't really fit my gear, so this is the best layout I can come up with. Too many odd width components! Attachments:

AND HOW DOES IT SOUND?! HEHE Not like Schiit! Really just started playing with it. Weirdly, the "buy better gear" light goes out when I stream from Tidal via my iPhone, but comes on when I stream from my computer. (All via Airport Express) The relays clicking while it's deciding which reclocking to use are pretty loud and can disrupt the music a bit. I'm gonna have to spend some time with it. Initial impression is it has a more "full" sound compared to the XDA-2 and previous Arcam CD player I had. I've read that it sounds more analog, and that's probably accurate.

Please keep us updated as you have more time with the Yggy! Congrats on the new DAC. I have been drooling over Schiit's multibits for a while now. Gungnir MB vs Yggdrasil: USB output from my music server, feeding my new Mjolnir 2 amp via balanced cables. There is a definite difference between the two DACs. It is subtle, not as obvious as the very marked difference when moving to Schiit's MB technology from, well, every D/S DAC I have ever used. The difference between Yggy and Gumby is in the texture and detail. The Yggdrasil reveals more subtle details and sounds more dynamic. Gungnir is actually a little warmer sounding to me and reminds me of the sound I enjoy in many tube-buffered preamps. Gungnir will be a fine replacement to the Wavelength I was using at my desk. Yggdrasil will return to my main 2-channel system, where is excels driving a loudspeaker-based system. But, for half the cost, the fact that Gungnir achieves nearly the sound of Yggdrasil is an amazing feat and points to the quality and innovation of the Schiit MB filters. I think it is very much worth whatever they decide to charge for it. David, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Have you ever done a comparison of any Schiit multibit to the Emo DC-1?

paintedklown, I have the gumby.
I let it play all night to really get warmed up. I'll have a chance to listen a little later.
One issue I'm having is I sold both my XDA-2 and REL subwoofer this week so1) I can't A-B, and 2) my system sounds different. It was sounding harsh on the top end but I think it is due to lack of depth at the bottom. My floorstanders have a lot of impact in the bass, but you have to push them. They also have a ribbon tweeter ABOVE the dome, so they can get harsh. I need to finish my DIY subs to really balance the system. I had to take the buyer when I had him, though.

I'm always so close to buying the Yggdrasil then turning the Schiit away. My main drawback is it has to be on all the time to get the most out of it. I do not like to keep my electronics on all the time unless I'm actually playing something. I will warm up the pre and amp for about 20-30 minutes before playing music but I do not leave them on all the time.

I just 12v trigger the rest of my system and leave that Schiit on.

I had my doubts at first. I thought it was actually worse than the XDA-2 because it sounded harsh without the dynamics that I love so much about my system. Was I wrong!!
After some break-in time, as well as some time for my ears to adjust to no subwoofer, this thing is amazing. The word that comes to mind is "warmth". I can see why it has been described as analog sounding. The detail comes through, but with such a warm, full sound it's hard to believe it's coming over wireless received by a $100 airport express. The midrange isn't as forward as the XDA-2, and that will take some getting used to.
One complaint: the reclocking takes a second to read the digital signal and the relays will click and the music will be interrupted for a split second. Usually only does it at first, but I've had it happen part way though a song. No way to lock that into one mode or another.

Warped Mind has heard both.
I have a Gumby. I like it, but if I had the cash I would have tried Yggy.

Can't tell you how much I want that yggy!!!!! But for me, two things stop me. I need to buy a fully balanced preamp first. And that means the Audio GD HE-1.
