I have a Gungnir Multibit (Gumby) on order. Not a fan of silver gear, but this fits my needs perfectly, so I'm gonna make it work visually. I also have 2 Stereo Integrity HST11 subwoofer drivers that came in. Now I just need to build the cabinets, buy an amp, and work out placement and I'll have stereo subs (see my thread in the DIY section).
So my system will be iTunes (or YouTube) > Airport Express > Gumby > XSP-1 g2 > Red Dragon Audio monoblocs > Dali Helicon 400 speakers. > iNuke6000DSP > dual HST11 in sealed cabinets
I also have bass traps in the front corners (back corners are occupied by desk, computer, toys... tons of odd shaped things, some soft). Acoustic panels at first reflection points on side walls. The listening position is at the 38% position from the rear wall. See my avatar for a tiny pic taken right behind the listening position.
I believe the weak point of this system is the Airport Express. However, it sounded great with the XDA-2 in the DAC position. I believe the Gumby will do great with it.
I considered room correction, and I have a trial of Dirac on my PC. However, after consideration, I think the DSP on the sub amp with be adequate for fixing any peaks or nulls in the bass. I can place the speakers, subs, and panels anywhere I want them.

The Airport Express is underrated - look at the various jitter and low noise results on various tests done properly over the years.....
No, doesn't do hi res, but then....

A little frustrated. I got an email late Friday (always seems to happen). The cc processing company Schiit uses says that my cc is being declined. I called BofA and they assured me my account is in good standing. They also said that the online transaction is "pending" and the processing company ran my card 2 more times. Those were declined because the original is pending. I emailed Schiit back and explained with no response yet (it is the weekend after all). I've never had this issue before. I also don't know how cc processing works.
All this to say; I want my Schiit!

Love my Gumby. I can't wait to hear your impression vs the xda-2. Having heard the XDA-2 I'd be surprised if it didn't out perform it.

This exact thing happened to another of my friends with Schiit....caveat emptor. The processing company must do something that throws up red flags to the bank. Sounds like the just try to charge the card again and then cancel the pending charge? BofA was not having it.

DYohn, please share your thoughts regarding the Gugnir MB vs Yggy. I will. I hope to A-B the two later today. Also could you please comment on how the Mjolnir 2 with tubes and unbalance headphone outputs pair with your HD650's. Did you get 6BZ7 or LISST tubes or both ? I want to click on the Valhalla 2 Black but also would like a MB dac same size and color to match. I like the pair you selected for a system. The MB dac and balanced tube. Nice. I have been wanting the Bottlehead Crack and they have the speedball for $20 right now. That would be a OTL tube for the Senn's and then I should do as you and get the Mjolnir 2 for a Crossfet differential balanced amp and Gugnir MB for a matching balanced dac. I could use this system for everything else including the Senn's. I Kinda think Jason has changed his mind about Black and the Valhalla 2 may not be a supplier mistake this time.

My initial impressions: the Mjolnir 2 is MUCH quieter than my original Lyr, which is why I decided to upgrade. I did not order the Schiit stock 6BZ7 tubes as I have quite a few 6922 tubes already, I ordered it with LISST only. I tried the LISST, a set of Genelex Gold Lions and a set of Amperex White Label tubes and much to my surprise found I preferred the LISST. YMMV.
The Gungnir MB DAC sounds much better to me than my Wavelength Proton which was my headphone system DAC. I will A-B with the Yggy this afternoon.

Gungnir MB vs Yggdrasil: USB output from my music server, feeding my new Mjolnir 2 amp via balanced cables. There is a definite difference between the two DACs. It is subtle, not as obvious as the very marked difference when moving to Schiit's MB technology from, well, every D/S DAC I have ever used. The difference between Yggy and Gumby is in the texture and detail. The Yggdrasil reveals more subtle details and sounds more dynamic. Gungnir is actually a little warmer sounding to me and reminds me of the sound I enjoy in many tube-buffered preamps. Gungnir will be a fine replacement to the Wavelength I was using at my desk. Yggdrasil will return to my main 2-channel system, where is excels driving a loudspeaker-based system. But, for half the cost, the fact that Gungnir achieves nearly the sound of Yggdrasil is an amazing feat and points to the quality and innovation of the Schiit MB filters. I think it is very much worth whatever they decide to charge for it.
