I missed it, are they all sold out of the old Schiit and waiting on some new Schiit? When it gets here, will it be the same Schiit different day or all new Schiit?
Sorry, I just had to post that.

Well, it took nearly the entire week to ship from CA to VA, but my Gumby finally arrived this evening (after FedEx took their sweet time, forcing me to stay home all day since my signature was required)! In fact, you might say the Gumby's delivery was a little... Pokey? No, I'm not sorry Anyway, I've got it plugged into my 2ch rig, taking the place of the Oppo 105. I'll let the Gumby stay powered on for a few days, then put it and the 105 through an A-B shootout to see who stays and who gets returned. So far its pretty close, but even at this stage I might have to give the edge to the Gumby. It's been powered on and playing for about 5 hours, and I think I'm starting to pick up little details in tracks that I hadn't noticed on the Oppo... but that could be buyer's confirmation bias. Guess I'll see how things shake out in a few days!

My Schiit came out silver instead of black. I kind of like the contrasting colors

For some the Silver Schiit is hard to take on the eyes. The Black Matte finish Schiit is easier in most cases. Same Schiit, Different color.

Guess I'll see how things shake out in a few days! Keep the source running through the Gumby. It helps in the beginning. After three days you will noticed the biggest change. After 7 days of the source running through the Gumby it is pretty much at its optimal. The Yggy took three weeks in comparison. If you turn off the Gumby for a couple of hours after the initial break in it takes about 12 hours to reach its optimal state.

When you say to keep the source running through Gumby for a week, do I understand correctly that I should be pushing music through continually for that period? I suppose that's not a problem if I set something to play through endless loops on Jriver or iTunes and just switch off my preamp & amp when not actively listening.

Awesome news. Waiting for a black one. WAF. I would have preferred a black one too. At this price point, you'd think they would be able to offer both finishes... but no matter -- if I do end up keeping Gumby, it's going inside my component stand with black-tinted glass front, so the discrepancy between that and my other components won't be quite as noticeable.

I've got limited space and am restricted to a smaller footprint Dac. Does anyone have thoughts on the Bimby?

We have to be careful as some Schiit is Silver only at least as the website shows anyhow. Most are Silver with a choice of black in there on only a few models. This stems back to some production samples in black they did not have allot of but want to sell. Just wanted to clear up that so the right Schiit happens.

I prefer my Schiit black and did not know you could order it this color. You can't anymore. They did it briefly when Gumby first came out. Then they discontinued black. The black was not anodized like the silver. There are probably some black Gumbys out there on the used market. Possibly more Gungnir units that could be upgraded.

Yes, have music playing through the Gumby. You don't need the preamp or amp on if you're not listening to the music. After 7 days then you don't need to have music going through it. Just leave the Gumby on 24/7.

You don't need to do that. Just plug it in turn it on and never turn it off.
