If you were using a 4k and bypassing, yes. But if you also have an output going from XMC to TV, your 4k TV will play non 4k stuff from the XMC still as long as its not a 4k source. Right? Mark Yeah, that works around it. I guess you need a Watch 4K Blu-ray and Watch Blu-Ray activity on the remote then. For me, I'd have to fish another HDMI cable, which is a major pain. I'd still prefer the HDMI board or something like the HDFury device, but I'd have to weigh the cost of one of those vs the cost/effort of everything else. -tm

4K tv is not a "dupe". Native 4K programming looks awesome on one of these sets. Prices have dropped dramatically and keep going down. I personally am looking forward to 4K blu-ray and especially Oppo's player. There will always be those that will hate this progress. I remember when DVD came out and the Laserdisc crowd jumped all over it as crap. Then Blu-Ray came along and the crowd said, DVD is good enough, I'm not buying that, Folks, technology marches forward and that's a good thing. You don't have to take the ride if you don't want to. I wasn't implying that 4K TV is a"dupe", certainly not. I'm saying that marketing of the sets is a dupe. Crutchfeld says "you can sit closer" not that YOU HAVE TO sit closer or get a bigger set. Other vendors / manufacturers simply ignore the issue. Russ PS - I apologize for the poor grammar above.

As do most of the latest UHD sets.
That, to some extent is the problem: The sets look great and prices and coming down. You'll want an UltraHD Blu-ray player, perhaps a Roku4 and perhaps the incredible new Hopper 3 from Dish, which appears to have been one of the big hits coming our of CES. The problem? You can easily see someone wanting to pair the great sound of the XMC with two, three, or perhaps more sources with HDMI 2.0.2.0a and HDCP 2.2. That is where one HDMI 2.0 with 300MHz is not good enough.
