Just curious, if it's so easy then why not give some examples of their false claims? That's a very good question! A good question with no answer....

But I don't recall them claiming there are any blue jeans on their cables. Blue Jeans claims their connectors are welded. My wife stepped on mine and it's no longer welded - FRAUD!!! But in seriousness - I've read the thread and all links. Put simply - a video was posted (with Audioquest's knowledge) showing manipulated data that made AQ products look good. After a year +, someone called foul, and proved it. AQ wants plausible deniability since they know the video was fraudulent. AQ's owner cries crocodile tears by saying that the video author should be held accountable. AQ's reputation is (deservedly) tarnished. AQ may or may not pay a financial penalty for this mistake. This WILL happen again. (may or may not be AQ next time). Boom

There are those that want to believe that the more that something cost or has some exotic material that it has to be better. They choose to believe these things. Folks that go to the store to buy a TV, A/V receiver and Bluray player and when they ask what else they need they are handed some Monster Interconnects and HDMI cables the come to a total of a couple hundred dollars. There are no other cables but Monster on the shelf. They do not know. That would be my or your 80 year old Mom.

A good question with no answer.... The false claim is there name. There are no Blue Jeans on there cables. You could always try to use blue jeans on coat hangers as speaker cables.

He's telling them what they did was just absolutely, totally wrong. They should never have allowed themselves to have been caught, and next time they had better perpetrate their fraud without being detected or else!!!!

I definitely think AQ is likely implementing measures to reduce being caught again. I was trying to come up with other snake oil industries and I think health supplements and skin care occupy the same territory as cable manufacturers but there have to be more.

...I was trying to come up with other snake oil industries and I think health supplements and skin care occupy the same territory as cable manufacturers but there have to be more... Pharmaceuticals - A very curious industry - They have a limited patent license on the products they develop. The majority of the patent time is used waiting for the FDA to approve the drug. For the (brief) period that the company can produce the drug at profit, it is sold for what the market will bear at different locations (meaning that first world countries always pay most for the drug). As soon as the patent expires, the generic companies move in & produce the drug for less & the original company (that spent their money on development and approval) can no longer make a profit. So the original company changes a molecule here, a molecule there, and starts the process anew with the "same" drug marketed by a different name. Sometimes the new drugs are better, sometimes worse. Sometimes the generics are better, sometimes worse. The consumer has no way to know, but will always pay a premium price for whatever they get. This doesn't even begin to consider side effects... Boom

I just watched the Audioquest video that started the controversy (available by contacting Mark Waldrep directly via email) and it's so obvious AQs claims are a scam meant only to fool people.
I recommend you watch it.
