The G3 should sound like an XPR. If people heard a difference between the XPA and XPR amps, they should hear one between G2 and G3. If they didn't, they won't now. Or I'd be surprised if they did.

I highly doubt anyone could tell the difference. In sound. Therefore value has gone down Here is where you say it is fact that value has gone down. When you say,"therefore value has gone down", this statement in proper grammatical evaluation is a statement of fact. Now, stop telling me to grow up and perhaps just pay attention to what you write and don't misquote me as saying I am saying all positive about Emotiva - when in fact, I have pointed out a flaw they have had. Mark First off don't lecture me. Secondly the statement you refer to is in conjunction with my stating "I highly doubt" The phrase "I highly doubt" does not state fact whatsoever. And you trying to spin it to how YOU want it to sound to discredit me and laugh at me is quite juvenile. So yes grow up. And stop looking down at people as inferior. I said lately you have been acting like a super fanboy. Not that you always have been. Hence the question "what's up with you?" No where have I quoted you. So it's quite impossible for me to misquote you. Practice what you preach in paying attention to what you write

When you say,"therefore value has gone down", this statement in proper grammatical evaluation is a statement of fact. Secondly the statement you refer to is in conjunction with my stating "I highly doubt" The phrase "I highly doubt" does not state fact whatsoever. Please read what I wrote that I just re-quoted for you. I did not say that your statement that started "I highly doubt" was a statement of fact. I stated that your statement "therefore value has gone down" is a statement of fact. In context of what you say, you are saying that because of your doubts, you are declaring a fact - a universal fact. That's all I have taken exception to. If you meant something different, then say what you actually meant. And, stop calling me a fanboy when I have, in fact, raised an issue with past Emotiva gear (which I hope the Gen 3 resolves). And, I also raised the point that some may consider the reduction in weight of the Gen 3 as a negative. Raising issues with Emotiva gear is not the pattern of a fanboy. So, please cease calling me one. Mark (PS - I was not attempting to lecture you. You merely asked me to show you what drove me to write what I did. So, I did. Now, stop being so juvenile yourself and actually read what I have written.)

Samething, just not with the larger tubes. what do you perceive as an advantage? I am pretty happy with the passive volume control (good pairing with my tube amps) from my current DAC which I also use as a preamp. However, I sometimes consider getting another tube preamp just for fun. Sorry to say, I have no experience with any of these preamps.

Pre amps,,,,,,, I've owned/auditioned various Yamaha products in the form of AVRs and Sherbourn Pre-1 XSP-1 gen 1 XSP-1 gen 2 McIntosh C220 (tube) all sounded superb Im leaning heavily toward a tube pre amp! Maybe eventually a tube phono pre. Something about knocking off the edges of the music.

Any word on when the new Emersa amps will come out? I lost all my Emotiva audio amps in a tornado the day after Christmas and was looking for something not as big and heavy as the XPA line even though they were great amps. Something like the xpa-200 would be great. I do not know the answer to your question but sorry for your losses and good thing you lived thru it. Thanks for your input. Yes, I am blessed to have survived. It looks like the Emersa line may be what I want.

Just submitted my order for XPA five Gen3 I figure with a 30 day in home trial, why not. I be pulling out the Adcom GFA 7500 that i have been using for almost 13 years. Looking forward to hearing what a new amp sounds like. A little more headroom and cleaner noise floor.
