I've only been running it since about 8 tonight, or 3 hours. No prior amps just AVR.

How is the power and headroom difference? Gen3?

Try it WITHOUT the power conditioner for another surpise. I'm certain the PC is restricting the amp in some fashion. I don't know anyone who uses a PC on their amp and my experience has been the same. With the exception of one amp, a Carver Cube, every amp I ever tried with a power conditioner, a 1000$+ Panamax, has sounded constrained.

Not sure I can handle another surprise. I might have an accident.
You mean it's gonna sound better without it? How are you supposed to protect your equipment without power protection?

I would plug it directly into a wall. There are some that can handle a larger amp like a Foundation Research LC 100 but most simply can't. BTW I'm glad you like your Gen 3. They look very well designed.

Emotiva amps have fault portections built in. Though they don't condition the power, they have cut off protections and stuff. In the past it has worked well for me. And my amps tend to be left on all the time.

It's difficult to predict how an amp will respond to a surge of 'epic' proportions. A NEARBY lightning strike, for example will probably damage unprotected gear. A WHOLE HOUSE protector, properly installed (ground is of PARAMOUNT importance) might be the magic bullet.
The ONLY time I ever lost an amp to an 'event' was due to a BROWNOUT. My Carver Cube began popping its 15 amp fuse. Power company paid for the repair! That I knew exactly WHEN to the minute made all the difference.

I just bought a pair of SVS SB-2000's in piano gloss black. I will put up the link to my Go Fund Me page later.

Have you tried with / without? OR does the potential upside outweigh the down? Here's my old post. I am now using the Belkin I mention, not the old Monster bar. But the results were the same. And I now have a dedicated 20 amp line. emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/419527/thread

I don't know. I guess the only way to know is to try it out and see what works best. There must not be any sort of tried and true rule of thumb. It must be wiring/grid specific.
All I know is is that it sounds pretty damn good the way it is. I still might give it a shot and see how it sounds.

Did you ever try the Denon back straght to the wall? The EMO should handily outperform the Denon. Sorry your kitty decided the CMX2 was a TOY. My cats NEVER went even near my Magnepans. For YEARS. NEVER.
I'd search the house for stuff like dimmers and such which put a LOT of noise on the line. Living near certain things can put hash back on the line, too. Maybe the cat is doing something ELSE behind your back? When they WERE on the same line, my refrigerator starting would put a TINY pop on the stereo.
If your speakers are what I THINK they are, most any reasonable amp will. Very good sensitivity and 8ohm nominal. Does the STS have a built in sub? That's the speaker I saw when googled.

I don't know anyone who uses a PC on their amp.... Me. Me too - I have an APC H15 with conditioning and voltage regulation. When I got it - probably 5 years ago - I did extensive a/b listening and I'll be damned if I could hear it doing anything negative. Granted, I haven't been compelled to a/b it again with the Emotiva gear. Not doubting that they could have an impact, leonski, just saying that in my case the APC doesn't appear to.

Yes, my Mythos have built in powered subs. I have those plugged into Panamax MD2 line conditioners, the same ones which the SVS subs will be jointly plugged into. Each have their own duplexes. The location which my stereo sits is powered by two 20 amp breakers, each duplex is wired on a different circuit of each other, i.e. the top duplex in the duplex pair is on one circuit and the bottom is on the opposite (split receptacle and multi wire branch circuit setup).

Did you ever try the Denon back straght to the wall? Yes. It also sounded harsh. So the line conditioner was/is certainly doing something. Not from what I've heard. After I redid my room I did go back and listen to both. I can not hear a difference. They have never bothered my speakers, which do have a sock wrap. So I've been lucky there I guess. I have a fridge in the same room, and 2 bathroom ceiling fans in close proximity. Although like I said I do have a dedicated stereo line now though. Never tried direct to wall since I've gotten that. I like it how it is so no bother. I actually have the 7001SCs, which are different. Although mine have the built in sub, and have a 92 sensitivity rating. It's my belief this is why there isn't much if any difference between the Denon and/or the Emotiva amps.

Bonzo,
Your BP-7001s have the same sensitivity as my STS's. I don't notice a difference in bass due to the self powered subs, however, there is an incredible difference in mid range, highs, and overall clarity. That at least is my perception with the Emo amp. Things to me are much clearer at lower volumes. I have yet to watch a movie to see how the center channel performs, but I am going to assume there will be a big improvement in the clarity of dialog as well.

So... difference between the two cmx units? And do they actually help?

When looking at the photos of the 2 vs the 6, I'd say they were nearly identical. I see an inductor / choke, some LEDs and what appear to be capacitors.
Either would be fine for connecting ALL your low current stuff to one device.
