understand this LC it depends on the hardware spec at launch vs upgrades to improve things
it wouldn't be fair to compare things between hdmi 1.3, 1.4, 1.4a, 1.4b, 2.0 and 2.0a as there is likely to be both firmware and hardware revisions between each specification..
unless you are sending you ht system in for updates and board replacements you could not compare feature specs...

Your statements at best contradict themselves. I'd really like to understand your logic, but without knowing what models and the specs of those models that sh** all over the XMC-1, we can't begin to actually have a meaningful conversation. Please tell me that you have more than this?, as your last post again is quite vague and generic, and I suspect by design.

Ever talk some Schiit till the guy gets up off his arss and you see how big an ol boy he REALLY is? ? OH! Id Schiitt myself too!! So if that gear was actually close enough to the XMC-1, I guess they would Schiitt all over it,,,,,and themselves,,,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,,,, Ya scared, ya should say so,,,,,,,

If, as you mentioned one time, you mean feature specs, e.g. HDMI 2.0 or Dolby Atmos, then that seems a fair way to compare the FEATURES of different units. But hardware specs, e.g. THD or s/n, well I call BS on those specs telling anything about how one unit sounds compared to another. I will say that I have had top end Onkyo/Integra prepros and the XMC-1 takes 'em all to the woodshed and SHOOTS all over them. Jeff

You can take mine for an upgrade holiday if you like!!!! I would want it back though, as the pain of reinstating the UMC-1 would be just bearable! ..... read post again Garry, I wouldn't sell until all the new upgrades come out,and the $1,500 was just pulled out of you know what. cheers It's OK Mick, I wasn't looking at buying until the new upgraded version came out, which according to Dan would be sometime in 2017. The price is of course negotiable at the time, but I suspect your "guess" of $A1500 isn't far off the mark. It'll be a ~3 year old superseded model with, by then, some obvious missing tech that would cost someone locally ~$A1800 to have upgraded. Which as you posted would mean a brand new one is probably a better choice. It only works for me because I'm due a holiday in the US, haven't been to Nashville or Memphis and Emofest has been on my bucket list for a while. Hey, maybe you should copy my idea and go yourself, I have a standing invitation for a tour of the Jack Daniels factory and we are planning to drive from Washington to Nashville/Memphis over the Smokey Mts. Should be a cool holiday. Cheers Gary

I've owned a Marantz AV8801 and the XMC-1 is in a different league. The XMC-1 has a lower noise floor and sounds incredible, and this is validated by independent measurements found here: hometheaterhifi.com/reviews/receiver-processor/processors/emotiva-xmc-1-processor-review/I even had the Audyssey Pro kit trying to get my Marantz sounding good and it was OK until I bought a used XMC-1 on a whim and there was no going back. PS: D&M is a company owned by a financial conglomerate. Just look at D&M's non-transferrable warranty, not honoring warranties for new gear purchased outside of authorized dealers, requiring purchasers to buy a new $3000 preamp for upgrades like HDMI 2.0, etc... Just a load of marketing BS. Emotiva lets you transfer warranties from user to user, and you can really see how much the owners and employees care as they are offering these upgrades at a very fair price. Below is just one measurement comparison, but they are all better on the XMC-1. Read the independent reviews for yourself. Not sure why they waited so long to post the AV8801 review, I wouldn't have bought one had I seen it. The Secrets site finally added measurements to the AV8802 review and they are better than my AV8801, but they still aren't as good as the XMC-1 and why support a company that screwed me on the AV8801... You can have all the speakers you want, but if a processor can't have world class stereo sound, who cares?!? so you made a conversion from 7.2-9.2 about 5 years to late, don't get my wrong it is great to see, now we need 11.4 which has been denon's topshelf preamp for 10 years now, and onkyo has had it in a 9.2-9.3 holding pattern until the last couple of years within the preamp.. my opinion at its original spec the xmc 1 had a value point less than $2,000 when you compare it prepros or should i say its competition was the avr market.. i'd compared it my denon 2113.. as it could never be classed within pre-pro's from either denon, marantz, onkyo or pioneer.. when you look at it from a specifications standpoint.. it is great to hear of thevupdates to the xmc1..

The concept that the quantity of features defines (after all that is what aus means when he says 'specs') the best/high end is straight from the AVR mentality (the more bells and whistles, the better it must be). It has zero place in the audiophile world where best sound/performance is the goal. Regardless of whether it is a pre a processor or an amp.

Speakers & room interactions are still far more determinant for sound quality. 1 to 10% vs 0.0028%. Not that I would trade in my XMC-1 for something less "audiophile"...

The cleaner, clearer and more immediate the sound coming from the speakers, the better an uncorrected system will sound. I would never toss room correction, but my XMC-1 out of the box slew my Audyssey Pro-corrected XT32'd Onk 5508.

The XMC-1 had some solid sound when I heard it. Best I've heard a multi channel processor do.

Did I read that right? That it would be free for those of us who bought it new? So, like those of us who bought it in 2014/15? Or just those that are buying it now and at full price?

We have Emotiva's direct comments (which said free if someone paid the $2499) or an article. While I would LOVE the article to be right, I am betting what we heard from Emotiva is the correct answer. Feature request for the updated Dirac for Atmos when it comes. Could we please have distances available to see and adjustable post dirac. Heard my first fully dirac'd Atmos set up yesterday. Sounded fabulous. Can't wait to be in the same boat. Put the unfounded idea that EQ isn't needed on the height channels to bed.

What would the thinking be that would cause anyone to say room correction isn't needed on height channels spkrs??
