I'll apologize ahead of time for asking what I'm sure is obvious, but I'm new to the thread..
It looks like Dan started the thread 3 years ago with details on what was possible in the way of an ATMOS upgrade for the XMC-1, but then I can't tell if any such upgrade ever materialized. Was there ever an available upgrade to ATMOS for the XMC-1? If not, was there ever an official explanation as to why not from EMOTIVA?

Thank you for the response. I hope those upgrades you mentioned become available again; every time I've looked over the past two months, they've been unavailable.

The trade-in program was discontinued end of 2021.

Anyone know the current trade in price for an xmc1 towards an xmc2? Thanks! donh50 is correct. The official "upgrade" program has ended. However, Emotiva does accept trade-ins on certain gear, but you will need to contact them directly to see what they will offer. I'm confident that they would accept your XMC-1 as a trade-in, but don't expect to receive the same outstanding cash value that was offered during the official upgrade program. Selling your XMC-1 outright on the open market might get you more. Hope that helps...

Anyone know the current trade in price for an xmc1 towards an xmc2? Thanks! To add to what Don and Doc noted, knowing whether you have the V3 / HDMI 2.0b board installed will also affect the price you receive, or can sell it for. The official trade in program gave an additional $399 for units equipped with the V3 board.

Thanks guys,
I was on the list but was waiting until they got Dirac Live figured out and never made the upgrade (switched to a different processor in the meantime). At this point I am not betting on them ever getting DLBC, but it would be nice if the bass management bug was fixed since I have four subs (set up as two mono pairs to the XMC-1 I was using; my new AVP handles all four independently). IF they ever fix the BM bug I may ping them again to upgrade; I had hoped to upgrade to an XMC-2 and either use it in a different room or give to one of my boys. Now my XMC-1 is just wasting away in its box.

You’re lucky!….That’s the best XMC there is…..HOWEVER your missing out on a number of things that happen with the unit running firmware 4.1 with that original board. In case you’re unaware that is the last original update to go with that board. (I would do that yesterday LOL 😂 if I were you!)

Hell, I just want an HDMI 2.0 board that works- none for sale. Thx to Keith, helped me find an issue that was a manufacturing problem with upgraded 2.0 boards (dated 2014) that Dan Herrman installed. Sent it in for repair, but it still has major sync problems- meaning almost never syncs any input. I request a new(ish) board, Emotiva denied my request- "Send it in for repair." I DON'T WANT THE DAMN BOARD REPAIRED, I WANT A NEW ONE. Emotiva, Nope. "We don't have any to sell you." "I'll send just the HDMI board to you." Emotiva- We can service your Emotiva processor outside of the warranty, and we charge a $100 diagnostic fee to bring the unit in and assess what needs to be repaired... So I get to pay twice to "fix" the HDMI faulty board that has bad since the day it was manufactured.
I have bought and tried (new, over the past year or so) (2) 18gbps 15ft HDMI cables, (8) 2.1 & 2.0b HDMI cables, (2) Roku Ultra units, NVidia Sheild Pro, (2) Blu-ray players (Sony & Samsung) just trying anything that would work... a total waste of my money. So much for "future proof", "Modular design." Big mistake, I should have kept the Anthem AVM-60 (everything worked) & sold the XMC-1.

ALL of us have been there with this stuff in one form or another. If I were you I would bite the bullet and send the entire unit back to Franklin for a complete diagnostic going over and repair. Let them keep it until it performs as advertised. You will rejoin the rest of us with one of the hottest processors out there…..STILL!
