More empty promises coming up, I hate to say it but it's the norm around here.

Axpona starts tomorrow. Somebody who is going please ask them in-person like I did last year. Last year the excuse was all the focus was on the RMC-1.

The upgrade is $650 with the trading in of your V3 XMC-1 (currently that is the USA offer)

The upgrade is $650 with the trading in of your V3 XMC-1 (currently that is the USA offer) And...it probably uses the RMC-1 firmware...and you know they STILL don't have DIRAC working on the RMC 1... I quote from the Emo website today: "Exclusive Dirac Live™ for Emotiva automatic room correction system (coming soon)." I could see swapping mine for an XMC-2 and waiting...oh...2-3 years for DIRAC to work...if they ever get it working.

If by “they”, you mean Dirac (and assuming you know the holdup is on their side), they hope to have the code finished soon. Apparently, they, too, have never written code for the new Analog Devices “Griffin Lite” DSPs which doesn’t seem to be an easy task. Reports coming from RMC-1 owners has the newest firmware (just released this past Friday) working pretty well. Not yet perfect, but greatly improved over the previous version(s). So, considering the XMC-2 will be a direct descendant of the RMC-1, will share the same basic hardware and firmware, and won’t be released until some time later this year, I would expect a fairly solid product at launch. Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but I don’t see any reason to be anything but...

So what are you getting instead? ...or by the sound of it already have upgraded to? This is the upgrade advice thread so any good input is appreciated. Example: Knowing that ever since the inception of the XMC that Atmos was never an original design criteria, I then decided to go with "X Brand/model" instead. Here are my impressions...(link to other thread) or we can continue the rehashing of old arguments just to somehow tell someone else "I told you so"? Is that really helpful vs pointing folks to a solution that worked for you?

Im also looking at the new Monoprice HTP-1.

Im also looking at the new Monoprice HTP-1. The 8805 is a very nice unit. I'm still researching the Monoprice unit. If it is like their new amps it should actually be made by ATI. ATI makes great amps but isn't known for their processors. (sound familiar?) Good thing is if it doesn't sell it will be available at a massive discount sometime down the line. (actually as soon as the next Marantz unit comes out with HDMI 2.1, the same will be true of the 8805)

I was sitting and waiting for the XMC-1 upgrades to shake out; I didn't need the upgraded HDMI board, but I was very interested in ATMOS. Mine was one of the very early orders for the XMC-1 (so I was told when I recently called about a warranty repair), and as an early adopter I knew what I was getting myself into.
Now that we know development will be on one platform, jumping on the XMC-2 will make me an early adopter of the unit, but not the platform. I respect all the RMC-1 owners who've given feedback so Emotiva can resolve the issues, and am even more appreciative now that this will ultimately benefit me.
For me, I love to tinker, so something has to change in my system and my computers every couple of years (but the system sound can never be degraded), otherwise I'm not happy. Even if it doesn't do everything right out of the box, the offered path of upgrading the XMC-1 to the XMC-2 will probably make me happy.

Well, I have an RMC-1 on the way via the upgrade offer. I decided not to wait on an RMC-2 or XMC-2. I’m hoping they get the DIRAC sorted soon. I’ll be all-in on wiring my theater now for every channel that beast can support.

Brave man...I’m still on the fence but one of my xmc’s is all packed up ready to rock when the bugs are all swept away...I’ll probably do Xmc-2 for the first round of tradeins.
I have a 40% off card that is the same price for RMC-1 without the return hassles so plenty of options.

It could be years...

It could be years... The upgrade is $650 with the trading in of your V3 XMC-1 (currently that is the USA offer) At almost the 3 year mark I too am growing a little tired...I might just sell both my Xmc-1’s and seeing as the rmc is still a no go for int’l buys - probably a blessing despite a successful attempt to purchase other than it being denied by non USA purchase, and go with something stupid expensive that at least works...enter Lyngdorf MP-50 Seems like the appointed dealer here is no longer even an option so that went well...I’ve had a truck load of Emotiva gear over the last decade or more too. I still have a lot of the ERM/ERD speakers and a few other amps and processors too...but it’s all been down hill for the last 3-4 years and doesnt seem to be any sign of that trend changing. The XMC is still a great product but follow up updates and new products are not going in the right direction. A real shame. Can votive can come b a few boxes z Bobby MC Xavier's says e cover x to eecc can a good going
