I heard no mention of the new Airmotiv passive speakers in the 5/16/16 podcast. Can anyone at Emotiva comment on this ?

Hear ye! Hear ye! I just wanted know that you guys are still finalizing the design on the Airmotiv passive speakers. This means that anything I've heard so far should be considered to be "preliminary" and "subject to change". If they're definitely on the way, and they will be here pretty soon, but the exact release date and the technical details are still subject to change, I am cool with that. As usual, I know that as soon as you have those details finalized, and you have definite information for us, you'll let us know. I would not be upset if you scratched some of the Airmotiv passive speakers that were shown at CES 2016 and AXPONA 2016 and decided to change the T1 Towers, C1 Centers and the E1 Surrounds to a powered design like the Airmotiv monitors. No matter you want to say or not, get them right because I still plan to buy them. Cheers! Mike

Hair Nick, how about a wink to signal that all the new Airmotiv passive speakers and the blueprints to make them did not burn up in a big fire and all is lost ?

I don't have any official dates to give out though, sorry! Any hint about the spec (exact size, sensitivity, FR, Power handling, etc.)? Unless I totally missed it, not much of that has been disclosed so far. I am on the market for a pair of compact bookshelves, can't hold it for much longer

I am on the market for a pair of compact bookshelves, can't hold it for much longer I have a feeling that the specs are still changing as they work to fine tune them. Just like the XMC-1, let them do there thing and get them right. There were hints that they may be close to release but with no remarks about them on the last Podcast I got this feeling they went back to the shop for more tuning. We did the same thing with aircraft and aircraft engines. You can't pull off to the side of the road for repairs in an airplane if something goes wrong so you get it right before you let it take off.

I don't have any official dates to give out though, sorry! So, just because you are not going on any dates does not mean you can't tell us the timing of the speaker production. I hate to tell you, but we are more concerned about new products than your personal life. (We hope that's going well, but...speaker timing is what Axis was asking about...spill it, we won't tell anyone!) Mark

I think they are putting bigger drivers in them. Two 8" for the lows on the T1's and two 10 " lows for the T10's. Use the bigger AMT's that are in the Stealth 8. Also make the center bigger. Some speakers that can make use of the power in the new Gen 3 XPA's.

I can confirm that the AirMotiv speakers are in production. If anyone was there at AXPONA, you saw these speakers in their finished state. The designs are finalized and the factory is presently building them. Beyond that, I cannot give any hard dates (production and shipping are both variable, and there's no sense in making something up until we know for sure), but we are looking at a couple months at least before the speakers get here. When we have them in stock, you'll know.

Since the speakers are actually being built, and therefore the design "closed", is there anything you can disclose as far as physical and electrical specs? Not that anyone would buy speakers based only on those, but it certainly is useful information as we wait for the real deal. Thanks!

What are the dimensions of the new tower speakers?
Can they be used up close to a wall for music and tv sound?
Will they work for a U shaped seating/listening area?

What are the power requirements needed for the tower models?

The T1 towers have a modest 88dB/2.83V sensitivity, so their power needs are nicely in line with similar compact tower speakers. If you have more than 10 watts (@ 4 ohms) to rub together, you can drive the T1s to "loud" levels, and even the wimpiest home theater receivers will have no trouble making plenty of sound. In that sense, most modern loudspeakers have very low power 'requirements' to play loudly. But feed them some really good, clean, low-distortion power with tons of current behind it (like an XPA-1L in Class-A mode) and you will really be impressed. I have heard them driven by the SA-250, the XPA-7 Gen3, the new unreleased Stealth PA-1 ICEPower monoblocks (same ICEPower module as Emersa), XPA-1 Gen2 monoblocks in Class-A mode, and the new TA-100 tuner/DAC/integrated amp, and they sound spectacular with all of the above.
The RMS power handling of the T1 speakers is 150W continuous, 300W peak power, so they can easily and safely be used with our bigger amps like the Gen 3 XPAs. Enjoy responsibly.
As a side note, I'm informed that production is complete on the T1, B1, E1, and C1 models, and they should be hitting the water to us very shortly. Ocean shipping is usually the most variable part of the process, so I can't give a firm date, but we're looking at 1-2 months until availability.
