i know the trims are interchangeable. Im asking what the difference is between the XMC-1 that says gen 2 on the front face and the one that doesnt say that and came with the gen 1 trim.

There is no such thing at this moment. you have a picture? It may be a future itteration of the XMC-1, there are threads about it, especially agter the last pod-cast. Is that what your hunting?

To my knowledge, all XMC-1 units sold to the public have been "Gen 2" units. The XMC-1 was dubbed "Gen 2" because of the cosmetics of the case. There have been no changes to the case or the internals of the XMC-1 since its launch in 2014 to date.

Its obviously not true Were you told this by Emotiva? No. I've been following Emotiva and the XMC-1 was announced back in 2009. I have personally felt, touched, fondled, and played with every prototype of the XMC-1 that was allowed to be seen by the general public. If you have an exception, please post a picture of it.

As i said, My XMC-1 has the gen 1 trim and it doesnt say gen2 on the front face. It should say Gen 2 right under XMC-1 on the bottom right-side. If the light isn't just right, the darkened "Gen 2" blends in with the dark aluminum face plate. Flash a light directly on it and you'll be able to see there is a "Gen 2" there. If there isn't I'd be really surprised.

I was the first person to take paid delivery of an XMC-1. My wife went to Franklin to pick it up the day the went up for sale. It was the first retail unit to leave the plant. It has the Gen 2 moniker right below "XMC-1" and is in black and hard to see. Did you buy your unit new?
