No Halloween news, I guess.
Time for a November bump.
Wow. I hope this new pre/pro gets released before your new President tears up NAFTA. I probably won't be able to afford it after ;o)

Without 7.1 inputs, what would be my options for using the 7.1 analog outs on my Oppo 105? I really do like the slim look of the MC-700 however. How will the dacs in the MC-700 compare to the Oppo 105?

How will the dacs in the MC-700 compare to the Oppo 105? Would think you have 2 options ; the 105 feeding a power amp direct with no room eq or hdmi to the 700 with no doubt a powerful PEQ and EMO Q to help your room . The trend with multi analog provision isn't too good when you have the channel count of atmos/ dts-x in more upmarket pre pro's to consider[ and the need to bitstream it] and incidentally small form factors may be more preferred by some . I for one would lean towards less analog more digital inputs as the mc 700 has . We don't know yet what the dacs are afaik but the 700 is a totally new design - it may be even better than the umc200 and my analog stage was quite transparent Theres always the 105's 2ch sabre dacs you can utilise so it may not be all bad

I forgot about hooking up the Oppo 105 directly to an amp. I had an XPA-5 previously and tried doing this and while it did sound very nice, it did have a bit of a harsh sound to it. It would also be a bit of a pain to have to switch back and forth from fixed volume to variable on the 105. I use the mc outs of the Oppo to listen to 5.1 music on sacds and dvd audio discs but I use hdmi for movies. That was the reason I got the Oppo 105 in the first place because mc music sounds so much better to me using the 7.1 outs compared to using hdmi. The dacs of the 105 are that good to me. As for atmos, I just don't have the space to set up extra speakers in my apt. Thanks again for the input.

The other option is an all analog pre pro like the parasound Halo p7 depending on price/availability and maybe an anti mode for any sub-eq . This would mean using your oppo's hdmi ins for pre amp level inputs of course [ if 2 is enough ? ] If you haven't come across this rather rare beast - www.stereophile.com/content/music-round-34-page-2#gQKdZrjGp2Y1r3hZ.97

I believe this unit will satisfy many many HT & music lovers. I'll be waiting for the RMC-1 and make a decision then. Perhaps just upgrade my XMC-1 and be done. I'll see when it all comes out.

Remembering the UMC-200 webpage, one question arises for me:
Does "11 PEQ bands for every channel" really mean it this time? This was advertised for the UMC-200 at first too, but there was no PEQ for the back surrounds and only 3 bands for the subwoofer. Is this different with the MC-700?

When I scrolled through the GUI on the MC-700 a few months ago during my visit to Emotiva,(while I'm not 100%), I'm pretty sure I remember seeing P-EQ filter settings for all 8 channels, but I don't remember specifically stopping on the subwoofer channel to check that it had 11 filters like the rest of the channels. Hopefully Dan/Lonnie/Keith will verify this for us.

The product looks great. So glad for the 6 hdmi inputs and the volume knob.

Hi all, There are 11 bands of PEQ on all channels, including the sub. Hey, it's overkill, but it's just code!!
This is a very sweet little AVP. It just works. And it sounds great. 👍 Cheers, Big Dan

Looks very interesting, but someone has to ask: What are the key specs/parts? THe info on the web site is still a bit light on things such as which DSP and DAC parts and they typical technical specs. Anyone have information on this?
Forgot some important HDMI questions: First is it 2.0, 2.0a or 2.0b. At least 2.0a is a requirement here to make sure we don't have an issue for HDR-10. 2.0b is optional, but nice to have going forward for dynamic metadata to go with HDR. Also, is the HDMI 300MHz or full spec 600MHz, at least on the three 2.0/HDCP 2.2 inputs as a hedge for the future.
Thanks
