Just keep digging into your pockets and keep buying little sorround speakers. I bet you five years from now there is going to be like a Atmos dfx or Atmos virtual xyz or some crap like that. true statement, 5.1 is all I will do..I have heard 7.2 and yes it is better than 5.1 also heard a 9.2 setup..not much better than a 7.2 setup...so i can only imagine what a 11.2 setup would sound like. When they came out with new surround formats every year I stopped at 5.1 I did the 7.2 setup spent thousands on that set up,Nad pre pro, emo amps, LSi the whole line with 4 LSifx surounds two subs and on and on. Moved and couldn't use half that crap..lost my ass trying to sell off most of that gear...Now? a very modest 5.1 system think I got a total of 1500 in it and sounds pretty damn good. Never again will I drink da Kool-Aid of Nirvana of high-end audio..over the year all the way back to the early seventies the money I have put into audio video I could have bought a home for the money spent in audio/video gear..I bet if someone started a "AA" for audiophile and audio enthusiast, yes there be a lot of people in that club....I can see it now, hi my name is Bill and I drank da Kool-Aid I am an audioholic...lolol..just saying...smooth... Wait a minute, I resemble that remark!! I highly enjoyed my 11.6 system!! What makes you think I've a problem?? , I've cut it way back,,,,,,,,,,its an 11.2 system now! I robbed a few subs for the other system, 7.5! My name is Nick,,,,,,,,,,,lol, wait, is it that funny?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Nick, smooth man...lol...ex wifes still took me to da cleaners more than I spent money on anything else...so money spent on gear was still money well spent...it was the one thing that would really piss da ex,s off the most...they would come back at me with, I sleep with your friends... I go so...I spent last weeks pay check on new speakers, put Karen Carpenter on the turntable and tell da *bleep* to shut up! my baby singing to me and pop a cold brew open...man that was da good ole days I tell ya...lol Nick, lol.. it,s still the one guilty pleasure that I still enjoyed today I ain't finished in 5 weeks getting that A2050 and Rotel,EMO or Parasound amp off my short list who I'm fooling ain't close to being done yet..at my age? to far gone to stop now..Now if I can just find some speakers L/R mains to mate nicely...ummm..

I would like to believe the new immersive audio formats are here to stay but look at how 3D in the home utterly failed. Really?? As long as Ridley Scott films EVERYTHING in 3D I'm a happy guy. Alien Covenant next year...can't wait Bill Funny you mention Ridley Scott, dude was way ahead of his time back in the 80,s...the sound track in one of his best " Blade Runner" at the time there was nothing even close to "surround sound" and anyone who had a/b speaker output on a two channel stereo and ran the audio from a VCR stereo unit, and had 4 speakers running like I did knew Ridley Scott was ahead of his time..Ridley and his brother direct Criminal Minds and the surround on that tv show is pretty damn good for a tv show.. Equally funny that you bring up Blade Runner. I started watching it when HBO first ran it something like 33 years ago. At the time I wasn't interested enough to watch the whole thing and watching on my 19 inch zenith with a 2 inch speaker well, not exactly the best way to render it. I am a huge science fiction fan and just a few months ago watched it on DVD on my current system. Enjoyed it! Not great but fun and excellent audio. Bill

Bill Than you definitely my brother from another mother, cause sure do loves me some science fiction movies myself can't get enough of it. Back in the 80,s I had a 25" Magnavox console TV a 900 Dollar VCR cause it was the so called stereo with rca L/R outputs top load..a Realistic 2-channel stereo with A and B speaker switch think it was their 2100 model anyways 4 speakers their March 2, 15" woofers, way before Dolby even thought about surround sound. But the sound track in Blade Runner was produced by Vangelis, he was ahead of his time also killer sound track..its on Vinyl ya know have it I do it on 180g virgin vinyl red..but you can get the sound track on cd also but it is the sound track from the release of the original soundtrack...oh by the way my youngest son Matthew had stuck up a grilled cheese sandwich in the VCR top loader guess he saw me loading vcr tapes...was mad at first, but lil guy was no more years old at the time..still laugh about that one..oh bro, have you checked out the move Oblivion killing soundtrack on that one too with Tom Cruise good move to me anyways and Battlefield Los Angeles check that one to bro..oh

oh, sorry for the derailing the thread I get a little long-winded sometimes my apologies to the original post...carry on about lil speakers my bad... I'm sensing a bit of sarcasm at the end of this sentence(and if not, then disregard some of this post)...if you don't hear the benefits or think there are benefits to a setup greater than 5.1 (seemingly because you had to sell a bunch of stuff (at a loss) you bought because you moved to a smaller place), doesn't mean others don't, myself included. Ever heard of a little saying "to each their own"? No need to put down something because YOU don't think it's "worth" it. Every time I try to convince myself all I need is 5.1 (to save some money on speakers and amplification, etc.), all I have to do is pop in the "Gravity" blu-ray in 7.1 and it becomes clear to ME that 7.1 is all I'll consider for myself as a base system (assuming I have the physical room space, which I do) and that 4 in-ceiling Atmos speakers, while perhaps not being as great of a difference as say, 2.0 to 5.1, will certainly add to the realism and aid in pulling me into the movie, which one would have to ask, isn't that the whole reason we all do surround sound in the first place??

Excellent point as you stated regarding having the physical space. Always around the forum is the debate regarding which format or number of speakers reign supreme, and in that the physical room dimensions are all too often disregarded and lost in the conversation. The available room for doing movies and/or music should always be the foundation. From there you build. For folks who don't understand the nuances of setting up HT, it won't make any difference

No offense taken brother, I just disappointed in myself, cause I basically gave all my gear to my son for his new home as a gift cuz he kept asking me for my EMO amps and my beloved LSI speakers...but to my defense no it wasn't sarcasm in my post, more of being disappointed cuz I never had the space to set this set up properly. 7.2 Master audio, TrueHD blows away 5.1, When I heard 7.2 in my sons living room with the move Oblivion...I was like oh hell yeah.. sound track in Masteraudio 7.2..awesound man..now my son has a friend who has his system sit up in 9.2 "wide fronts" only because his wife wouldn't let him hang speakers on the walls for 11.2..but outside of what lil sound was coming from them wasn't much of a improvement over the 7.2 Masteraudio...now as for Dolby Atmos?..ummm...maybe can't say..but than again..all disclaimer in this post is solely of the poster and not intended for commercial use...lol...cheers brother!. and may the power of watts and surround be with you..Mike...

Buy as many Emotiva E1's as you like and mount/hang them any where you like.
