Their price match policy is 14 days from purchase, you can email their sales department and they will make the adjustment it you qualify.

If i already have a decent sub (SVS PB1000) with a crossover of 100hz would i need to get the T1 towers? Thinking of the bookshelves now. This is for a 12.5' x 12' living room (with one side opening up to the rest of the basement) i.imgur.com/qIsjapY.png Currently using Energy mini Veritas speakers (4" woofers)

Just ordered a pair of the Airmotiv B1s. I also ordered the Elac B5s so I can do a shoot out. I previously have purchased many Emotiva products including the CD player, pre pro, and three power amps, (very satisfied) so I figured I'd give the new speakers a chance in my small lake cabin. Will be using a Martin Logan Dynamo 300 sub. Can't wait to play!

For the price I think it really is hard to beat.

The Emo B1 and Elac B5 (more so than the Elac B6) look like a fairly close match, at least on paper. I'll be very interested in your feedback and what amp(s) you use for the test. The Dynamo looks like a nice sub and match for either of these speakers, but I hope you'll give us your opinion on the A/B shoot out without the sub. Thanks!

I will also watch this fairly closely, as we have the ELAC B5 in-house and I have compared the B5 to our B1 in head-to-head listening. Without saying too much that might skew the findings, I found the differences to not be subtle. I'll say more after shish32 puts up his thoughts.

Hi Rory, Did you pit the Airmotivs against the ELAC Uni-Fis? No, we haven't had those in-house yet. A coincident midrange and treble driver is usually a strong pairing, particularly in a bookshelf format where the midbass driver works hard, because there is definitely a three-way 'sound' where the midrange is relatively free of intermodulation distortion, but there is the added charm and dynamism of an AMT-style tweeter that I don't suspect the Uni-Fi could match without spending quite a bit more on a higher quality treble unit. I suspect either model would have its strengths and weaknesses, but the comparison to the Debut model seems more appropriate given the price point. I could say more if I had a pair of the UB5 to dissect and examine more closely.

Rory,
I bought UB5 before the T1s. I love their sound but their low end obviously does not compete well against the T1s. I didn't get to do an AB comparison unfortunately because I returned them due to an issue they developed. Also, I don't exactly have the best equipment to bring out the true potential of either speaker.

So it's been a short while since I peaked in this thread, lots of good stuff going on in here. I got some feedback from Chuck during the sale and despite a little nail biting I bought the XPA Gen 3 (7 Channels), an RCA snake, and 4x E1(s). After doing some furniture re-arranging and getting a A/V component shelf to hold the new amp and move stuff around things are up and going. For anyone that is lurking around the forums despite my personal experience in professional audio in a past life I have to give Chuckie a Hight Five. He has some really great knowledge and experience to share as I'm sure a number of members do. I can tell you that taking a dive into some additional gear and a swap out of a few other pieces of gear was worth it. The difference in the sound quality, for me anyway, from what I had before and I what I have now feels almost night and day. It sounds like there is a level of detail and clarity that I just wasn't hearing before the amplifier even at levels below -30.0db (FS). Put your money into a good amplifier that will compliment what your driving it does make a difference. When the time comes around the next thing on the list is my processor/receiver (Denon x3200w). I am now just using the receiver as a processor with pre-outs, unbalanced of course. I'm still very much in the break in period here and I still need to pick up an SPL meter to check a few things. I might post these pictures in the XPA Amplifier forum to. I wish I could tell you more about the amplifiers performance but unfortunately I do not have any really good reference points that fall into the same arena. Sorry folks.

lukeh, thanks for the great feedback and your kind compliment! I'm so pleased that you like the results with the new XPA Gen3 - 7 channel. Looks like a great modular amp to me, kudos to Emotiva on their new amp. It has plenty of power for your LCR's and the 4 surrounds as needed. I'm also pleased to see you went for the new Emo Airmotiv E1's for your surrounds. They have plenty of bass matched with the sub(s) in the 7.1 system and are better surround speakers (than a bookshelf model like the B1) if you can mount them up high on the side and/or rear walls. In the future as you have the funds, I'm sure one of the Emo pre-pro's might be a nice addition. You'll have the choice of the XMC-1 or a new lower priced pre-pro that should be out in the near future. Nice system and photos ..... we always love photos!

Well I finally set up for the shootout between the Emotiva B1s and the Elac B5s. I have been toying around with the Elac B5s for the last couple of days waiting for the B1s to arrive. I also have to go on record that I am a fan of Magnepan speakers. (To each his ears.) While I think the Elac represent a very good value for $230, in a vacuum I just couldn't warm-up to them even before the B1s arrived. I also admit my set up is not the best in terms of chosen input source being an older Panny bluray. I just didnt feel like pulling out my Oppo 103 out of my main system. I connected my older, mint condition Carver AVR100 (150 wpc, yes I was careful). Besides, I will be utilizing the speakers ultimately with the Martin Logan Dynamo 300 and a Yamaha RX-V2700 140 wpc, not on site for the shoot out since they are at the cabin and I am at my primary residence. Hope this makes Chuckienut happy! Well you're probably thinking by now well is SHE (yes, I'm a she) going to get to the shoot out or not?!? LOL Being a Jersey girl , we are known for our directness some may call it blunt, I prefer to think of ourselves as more honest and forthright., So I will get down on it. Finally you say! I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! I chose many of my favorite artists' albums on cd where I was extremely familiar with the recordings. Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, Neil Young, Rolling Stones, just to name a few. I did this to hear a wide variety of musical sources to hear of the differences between piano, guitar, harmonica, string and horn instruments and voice types. I've only been at it for two hours this morning so this is just a preliminary review. The speakers have to be some of the most satisfying bookshelf speakers I have ever heard and they are not broken it yet. The ribbon tweeter and woofer are so well integrated it is truly amazing. The soundstage could not make me happier. I swear to god I thought I heard Nora Jones' mouth open and close on the recording. Yes we all know what a great recording Come Away With Me is, but we are talking small bookshelf speakers here! With the B ones I really feel like the artist is in the room and believe me the set up that I put together was less than optimal due to my anxiousness with getting things up and running in the most expeditious manner in a very large living room. So you probably want to know how do the B1s sound compared to the Debut B5s? Honestly I found them superior in every way possible, but the most important difference in my mind the quality of the tweeter. The Elac seems a little dull to me and not as present or airy or well integrated as the Emos. Physically the B1s are smaller than the Debut 5s, with size and looks being immaterial to me. I never let that get in the way of what my ears are hearing. Looks only matter if the speakers are equal in terms of sound quality, but are they ever? What about the wife approval factor? I AM THE WIFE! 😎 Check. Check. These are just a few of my preliminary thoughts. I am going to go get my other favorite music, pour myself another cup of coffee and enjoy these speakers some more. More to come after I get these gems to the cabin. Maybe some day I will own a tshirt that says "This Jersey Girl ❤ Emotiva."

Shish - cool info; what are you driving them with (sorry if you mentioned it earlier and I missed it)? Lukeh - 7 channels of XPR sound in the G3; it doesn't get much better than that.
