This deserves a like times ten!! Like I posted in my TA-100 review, Emotiva and my friends on their forum are first rate!! Ill now need to adjust my review as the remote was the only sticking point! I will read as an advertising piece then. Keep in mind it will only duplicate the functions of the factory remote. It won't change how the menu structure works. Yes, I do understand unfortunately! I do wish for direct access but,,,,,,,,you/we/I can't have everything. On the other hand it will make using a single remote for that system much easier. Now for Sheldons "Fun Facts" , a portion of the time that i use that system is when im inverted so I can stretch my spine and fill my head with blood!!

Hello All, It is interesting to read the responses about the remote and menu system. When I wrote the menu structure and worked out the remote I truly thought people would appreciate the simplicity of it. That is to say the goal was to make it very simple so that anyone could use it without having to know how to program a computer to use it like so many products today. As it pertains to how the PT and TA operate, think of it like this. and oh by the way, we will publish a flow chart. That is a great idea. First the system auto-saves your settings, so there is no enter button. Up and Down is volume. Left and right are Input selects. If you press Menu, then just scroll up and down to find what you want. Once you find it, simply go into this part by pressing the right arrow (right arrow takes you in and left takes you out). Once you are in that sub menu, scroll up and down to make changes. Once you have made the change to be what you want you can either use the left arrow to back and the system will auto save this selection or you can simply press Menu again to take you out completely. That is really all there is to it. I'm sorry if you don't like it, I really thought it would be a hit with the WAF and children, which in term would make it more appealing to everyone. Lonnie It's not a bad system, or even hard. It's just different and takes a little getting used to. My habit is to press "enter" when I am done with a setting, which you obviously don't have to do with this one. Once you use it a little bit it seems to come more naturally.

It sounds similar to the DC-1 except you don't have the enter button where you depress the knob. But the menu tree looks familiar.

Have an Emotiva ERC-3 and an A-300 amp which are very good -no complaints, Recently ordered and received a PT-100 preamp and FM Tuner. The FM Tuner's Ui on the PT-100 is a different matter it's just not meant for normal human beings and unless there are firmware updates that can be downloaded make it easily useable I will probably return it. I had a complete British system which as initially a pain to setup but once done it was a breeze to use but the FM tuner section of the PT-100 doesn't seem to be designed for us mortals.
Please Emotiva!!

Jayhawks does bring up a legitimate point... The TA-100 remote logic does take a moment to understand, and I believe that Nick and Keith will knock out a simple menu tree ASAP. Also, a very quick tutorial video would make it easy to understand, so I think I'll ask the boys to do this too. The menu is based on the way Apple TV operates and there is no ENTER action. This took me a moment to adjust to, but once I used it a bit, it's actually very logical and very simple. It's just a little different. Happy listening! Cheers, Big Dan Lotta' people never got used to the Old-School HP Calculators which used RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) which Also had NO 'equal' button, but rather an 'enter' key. Once you got used to it, nothing else would do. I suspect once the learning curve is 'humped', it's all gonna be good news. I'm also certain that 12 year olds figure it out without ANY help but thick-headed adults (most of us!) will need some teaching. Go find yourself a 12 year old!

Had posted this in a diff thread but guess this one is the most appropriate, hence the repost.
Hi, This is Amit from India.
My emotiva journey started in 2011 with direct import of UMC-1 / UPA-7, followed by XMC-1 in 2014 and now acquiring BASx series components.
Recently purchased PT-100 from India distributor appointed by Emotiva. It has been mated to BASx A-300 stereo amplifier (also purchased in India) driving vintage Sony tower speakers and I am delighted with the sound quality of this combo. Totally worth the money.
Have few points as feedback and some issues, hope somebody at Emotiva looks at this and evaluate if there is any resolution.
Feedback: 1. Tuner - The existing process of tuning and recalling presets for playback is too complicated. Autotune function did not work in my case. 2. Adding a function of sleep timer would be an added advantage.
May be, designing an iOS and android app with full functionality (including above points, if possible) would make things much more user friendly.
Issues: 1. Facing issue with USB input from my Windows 7 desktop. The cable remains connected in my system and every time I select USB as input, my desktop gives me an error for non recognized device. When I connect the USB cable post the desktop if fully operational, then it works fine.
Thanks & Regards,
Amit

More thoughts though I have no knowledge on technical feasibility of what I am suggesting. Realised for developing an app, pt-100 will have to have network capability. If the bt module can work as wifi adaptor as well, then it may serve both purposes, plus how about adding internet radio capability through updated firmware? That will make this genius so much out of the world device😍😍.
Just my thoughts and wish list, have no idea if any of this is possible.
Thanks and regards,
Amit

I've had the PT-100 for about two weeks now. Other than the remote's quirkiness, as mentioned above, the PT-100 works very well. Sounds good too. Decent preamps don't need to be spendy. The Advanced Digital AD1955a DAC is a nice touch - same as found in the XDA DACs IIRC. Not much difference to be heard between it and the one in the Oppo. Feeding the Bob Latino ST-120 and driving a pair of vintage AR-2ax speakers and it sounds very good. I could see this in many HT setups if it only had an HT bypass. I try to get in an hour or so of listening each evening. The ST-120 amp sounds excellent. Two channel rules!

Thanks and regards, Amit Pick up a Chromecast Audio and you're there. They're cheap (in the US at least) and take mini-toslink to toslink cables so you can connect digitally right into the PT-100. It uses your home network and you can control it through your phone. Check it out, fantastic product. I agree with your thoughts on the remote though. The tuner is a huge PITA to maneuver through because of it, and changing any settings is also a hassle.

I have been using Bluetooth receiver with XMC-1 in my living room. Agreed, can connect same with PT-100 too. Sadly, Chromecast audio is not available here and will have to be imported from US... too expensive.
Thanks for suggestions and comments.

Amit

Amit, when you figure out the menu and understand the limitations of the piece of gear you should enjoy the sound it reproduces. Everyone likes this preamp and it has digital and simple Bluetooth. This is a good stable piece of gear that is for simple excellent music playback. Do not expect it to talk to your smartphone or lock your doors. Cheers Mike

I have the sister TA 100 and honestly I use BT Tidal & Spotify exclusively. I have a radio station programmed & others stored. But I find it impossible to navigate that remote for the tuner portion.
EMO more user friendly please
Sound is fine

In today's wireless world, systems talking to smartphones is a welcome feature any day or night. Btw I don't need anyone to tell me how to lock or unlock doors. Thx anyways!

The remote will inevitably be replaced I think.

I don't have an issue with the menu tree as much as the remote itself. Most of the time it just will not respond when trying to change volume. I thought maybe it was a low battery issue thought I haven't had my pt100 very long. However even after replacing the battery it still is not responsive. I have to repeatedly push the remote until it decides to work.

If you have a universal remote you might try it to see if that helps. You'll at least know whether it's a remote or the PT-100 that is giving you grief.
