Philips head wood screws definitely look cheap. Personally I don't have a problem with exposed hardware as long as its cool looking. I would have liked to see all the woofers flush with the face, also threaded inserts and allen head or 12point automotive style hardware.
But the Double Impact's sound really good. I think that most people that get to listen to them will like them.

The boxes matter not if the merchandise arrives undamaged. Tekton's styrofoam has a 100% success rate in preventing damage for the pair I bought. If it works, it works.

I'm surprised you haven't been flamed yet for talking about exposed hardware or non-recessed drivers. For anyone: What's the deal with the Tekton fan club? If they're seemingly "sooo amazing" - why aren't there more owners? Cost? I had to wonder about the Tekton Pendragons that bounced around the lounge like hot potatoes. $3k for a pair of large speakers like the Double Impact (given the number of drivers) seems pretty cheap to me.

I suspect that neither jdc or I give a flip if we're flamed or not. I like what I like. Some of the great speakers I've heard include: Magnepan 1.7 Revel F30 Avalon Symbol Klipschorn Tekton Pendragon KEF two-way something (don't remember the model) They're all different, but every one of them had/has something special so far as my ears are concerned. Now a "first impression" of any of the above could be less than enthusiastic - some of them (and especially the Pendragons) seem to take a LOT of time to break in. But at their best, they're all excellent. I've not heard the other Tekton offerings, but would very much like to hear them. OTOH, maybe it's best if I remain content with what I've got!

You need to please be mindful this is a one man business. I think he has now one or two people helping him out. So basically he is the one building all the speakers from scratch.

So... it's a 1 man shop and some people like them.
Okay.
I'm all for supporting small businesses if they make good products.
Boom - I know you don't care if you get flamed. That's like a daily occurrence in the lounge. LOL

I've never heard the Tektons and I am sure they are good speakers but it seems to me that certain things just all of a sudden seem to be talked about and praised for a season of time, just like some celebrities all of a sudden become a hot ticket. I recall several years ago all anyone could do in this Lounge was praise Rhythmik subs and nothing could come close to them. I have no doubt they are excellent but it was like that was absolutely the best and people raved and raved. When the get in line and tell them what toppings to put on your pizza and they bake it real quick craze started, that's all people could talk about (this came after Chipotle) and now it is poke restaurants. Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame. But like those street performers in the thread this past week, a lot of very deserving artists don't get acknowledged and it's luck of the draw as to who becomes famous and who doesn't.

Boom, your a Lounge Lizard and can do whatever you want. You got to hear them if you can Boom.

I just bought a pair of klipsch rf 7ii's.They are ok.at loud volumes they are a bit hard to take. Prolly doesn't help that I use a crown xls 2500 on them...I thought about the Pendragons .prolly would have been better off.but holding out to see more on the double impact.its an odd design.looks great though to me.wish someone would do a professional review on them.

What size room are your Klipsch in? Do you have room treatments? This will greatly effectthe sound quality!!

Space away from the walls and corners is a must. Id be glad to help you out and take them off your hands for a nominal charge!

Received the Double Impacts on Tuesday. Being retired I was able to do a lot of listening these past few days. I mainly listen to multi-channel music.
Zu OMEN DEF fronts - Wyred 4 Sound STI 500 amp SVS Ultra center - Emotiva XPA-1 Mono SVS Ultra Towers for surrounds 2 Emotiva XPA-1 monos SVS SB 13 Ultra SUB Oppo BDP 103 Emotiva UMC 200 preamp
This system produced some sweet music. I like my music loud.
I connected the DI's to Emotiva XPA-2 Gen2. This amp puts out 500W at 4 ohms so it was perfect for the DI's. I listened in stereo only. My listening room is 22 X 30 with cathedral ceilings.I was amazed by what I was hearing. I had to move my listening point 4 or five feet back because of the dynamics of these speakers. I like to be close at a concert but not on stage. The Bass was the best I have ever heard by plenty. It was clear and tight and packed a wallop. I was hearing backup vocals and instruments I had never heard before on music I've been listening to for a long time. The Eagles farewell tour on Bluray is one of my favorites and I always felt it was sonically a good recording. When I listened to it on the DI's it was propelled into a different league. The dynamics were extremely powerful and the drums were moved to a different level. The vocals were the best I have ever heard. There was incredible separation of the musical instruments and that was fun to follow and watch just like when I'm at a concert. The DI's are getting better every day and they are already fantastic.
Anyway, that's one man's initial impression of the DI's.
