These Monoblock modules are for the Generation 3 XPA chassis. You will be able to put three of them in the same chassis. Good God Men!! Whats wrong with y'all???
MONOBLOCK,! One powerhouse source! One Box!!
Two " mononlocks " in one chassis is what we call a stereo amp!
Lets Get With The Program People!!

Since novisnick is asleep at the wheel I would respectfully suggest that if a power amp is multi channel then it's not a monoblock. Cheers Gary What if each channel has its own PSU?

Ok, so this is a fully balanced (Quad Differential) single channel amplifier Blade. Putting two of them together would take up 4 blade widths in the current Gen. 3 chassis. That would give us something that Emotiva has never offered us before. A Fully Balanced (Quad Differential) Stereo Amplifier!!!!!
Using three balanced blades (six out of the seven available blade widths) would give you a Quad Differential, Fully Balanced signal across the front of your Home Theater.
Putting a single balanced blade (2 blade widths) in a seven blade width chassis seems like a lot of wasted space. Maybe sometime next year they can come up with a special, single sideways mounted blade chassis, that would only take up only 2 rack spaces.

Oh, OH, wait! (Sorry Lonnie).
Once they design a special two blade sideways chassis, then they can put two regular XPA blades in it. That would make an XPA-2S (for Special, or Small). It won't make any difference weight wise, but it would make a smaller chassis size for shipping. And be more convenient for a lot of people's set ups.

Well technically....it could be a monoblock if only one blade was used.

This is from an interview with Dan on Twice.com. "third module called a “doublewide” will be available, rated at 2x600 watts. The chassis will accept up to three doublewides." I take from this that if the power supply can support three modules of 2x600 watts then it may support three of the “doublewide” monoblock blades. Of course I do not know. I have no ideal what these monoblock modules are all about. I wonder why this is a mystery ? the differential mono block module for the Gen 3 amps will be released soon Lonnie This sounds like they are made for the new XPA Gen 3 chassis to me.

I wonder why this is a mystery ? the differential mono block module for the Gen 3 amps will be released soon Lonnie This sounds like they are made for the new XPA Gen 3 chassis to me. Take the power ratings and any specifications from twice.com with a helping of salt. I just read all of the articles related to Emotiva on he website and every one has multiple errors, often contradictory errors in the same article from one paragraph to the next. Very poor reporting and writing. The editor, if they have one, is derelict.
By definition, a balanced "monoblock" module should only have one channel. Based on an old podcast, Lonnie talked about taking the current module design and putting them back to back or mirroring them on both sides to make them balanced on the blade and "double wide". It would roughly double the power too. That's all that I know about them.
Also, have any of you thought of this? I don't know how they are arranged, but wouldn't it be cool if they could do the same to the stereo modules? Can they make the stereo module into balanced single-wide mono-module? These are really balanced mono-modules, not mono-blocks, right?
How FUN would it be to order custom XPA Gen3 amps with 'balanced' double-wide and single-wide modules?
Think about how much more cost effective and space efficient it would be to have the near equivalent of 7 XPA-1L's in one box?
I hope, that they might, just might be able to balance the stereo modules too. I have heard nothing about this possibility from anywhere. I have no idea if it is even possible. So this is JUST complete speculation on my part, but boy it sure would be cool!

If the definition of a mono-block is as you said, one amplifier stage, with one power supply, in one box is true, wouldn't these modules really be balanced, double-wide mono-modules? Remember, common consensus is that if you can name the thing for what it really is, you can properly comprehend what we are dealing with. If not, we are probably going in the wrong direction.

So since these use a switching power supply vs the toroidal one, would two or more blades in one unit still not quality as mono blocks? This is a Thread I started to find out this very thing. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/46875/xpa-dual-balanced-differential-mono KeithL finally posted yes to this question on page 4. The short answer is yes...... First off, you can put ANYTHING in one box if you try hard enough However, in this case, it's no problem at all.... both amplifiers can even run off the same power supply rails. (Note that there won't be any common grounds on the speaker outputs.) I thought about getting an XSP-1 and two XPA-1L's because that is as small as it gets for pure analog balanced Quad Differential. That set up is bigger than I want or need. I am hoping that someone will bring this balanced Quad Differential architecture down to a smaller size and I don't see why you need to have separate mono blocks to have balanced Quad Differential amplification. One of the main questions I have for this thread is can you do it ? Can you put two channels of balanced Quad Differential amplification in one box ? I am googling it but I have not found the answer yet. I put the question here as a means to acquire the answer from others that have already found the answer. Anyone here know ?

Well the XPA-1 has two amp modules per monoblock. It does this to run fully balanced. So that doesn't sound unusual to me that this approach is being used.
Now what's interesting is that this double wide does allow you to have TWO fully balanced double wides, right? In that case, that would allow you to have a fully balanced Emo stereo amp with a 3.2 kilowatt (siwtching) power supply with XPR blades (?) . A fully balanced stereo amp is a first for Emotiva.
