True. But visions is commissioned based. So you can definitely ask for a discount. And they price match. I miss the days of futureshop and haggling

So, here's a question.... Is there a market for a quality, great sounding, and affordable 7.1 receiver without Atmos/DTS-X from Emotiva? Or is that market looking for 5.1? Don't laugh... the vast majority of 7.1 receivers are used in 2.0, 2.1, 3.1 or 5.1 modes... not 7.1. Or is it all Atmos/DTS-x now? Not sure... Basically it would be BasX MC-700 with internal amplifiers... Would $799.00 be too much for 7.1?? $599.00 for 5.1? Just curious... What power at those prices, Dan? As a current owner of a Fusion 8100 used in a 5.1 system I would be interested in a new gen AVR from Emotiva. Can you make an AVR combining in a single-chassis the MC-700 and A-500 for $599? :-)

...Or is it all Atmos/DTS-x now? Not sure... Thanks for asking, I'll add my two cents as I think I fit the target market for this group. I had a Sherbourn 8100, and am now using a Fusion 8100 in a smaller room at 5.1. The room is too small for 7.1, so I use the extra 2 channels as Dolby Z. I want to replace this receiver but the minimum I would be looking for is 4K (which is why I am looking) HDR, and Atmos/DTS-X support. After putting Atmos/DTS-X in another room I would not buy another AV unit without them. Even when source content does not have native height information, the matrix use of the height speakers is pretty compelling and far better than what was available via Dolby Z. Things like streaming are not important to me in a receiver as I have yet to see a TV, bluray player, or receiver that streams as well as any Roku. $599 is a great price point but, after having 2 Emotiva units, I would be willing to pay $200 more for the improved SQ and flexibility (I love the trim buttons!) over a typical receiver. But much more becomes difficult as the receiver market becomes so competitive at this point. What would help drive a decision here is good setup software, Dirac is probably too much to ask at this price point but something that is an incremental improvement over what is in the 8100 would help sell the unit over the competition.

Yamaha. Have you seen their ads saying "their are back". If you can read it--it must be true.
Had good luck with Yamahas in the past, second choice given the selection would be NAD, third Denon, forth Sony

Dumb it down and call it the Emotiva 5.1R RECIEVER $599 Emotiva 7.1R RECIEVER $799

However, I really have a hard time believing there would be a niche market today for a $600-$800 5/7.1 receiver. Really? Seems there would be soooo many other new-product options for Emotiva to come up with that would create much more buzz and demand other than said product. Who knows anymore.....?
