While I may have plans, I've often times in the past had run-ins with a person named Murphy. His damn law seems to pop up when one least expects it, so I'm always on the lookout for him. He practically moved in with me in 2016! Robbed my budget and savings for a new water heater, repairs to refrigerator, A/C, both cars...

New floor standing speakers maybe. I want some speakers that weigh more than the ones I have been using in an apartment for the last 20 years. I am waiting for the tax laws to change, then buy a solid built house with plenty of property. Whole different ball game with 2 channel speakers if you know what I mean. Maybe Klipsch Heritage Series. Maybe Revel. Maybe Salk. What I would like to have is speakers that take the big sound of a single 8 inch woofer and AMT monitor like the Stealth 8 and multiply it. A speaker that will have enough authority at low volumes to sound very pleasant at low volumes. A speaker that will blow you and your chair back when you turn up the volume ! Do I get a tax refund ? No, but I paid lower taxes.

You might want to take a look at the Legacy Audio Focus SE then. 177lbs each! :-) I got mine the end of last May and I've been loving them. Casey

Same to you, rockstr - I bet your 3.7i Maggies sound just awesome with your Emotiva amps? Boom They truly do. My Studio 100 v5's and I moved into a new place a couple years ago and I could just never get them to work with my new funky vaulted bonus room... despite countless efforts with acoustic panel arrangements. Day 1 with a set of dealer demo's I couldn't believe how much room interaction was a factor. Needless to say, my dealer soon received my credit card number! I immediately wanted MORE, of course. So, I started looking at even larger more costly amps from the likes of Bryston and Sanders. Long story short, after living with the XPA-1's on the Maggie's for a couple months, I'm not sure I would hear an $9-13k improvement. I really haven't experienced this kind of imaging, even in million dollar showrooms. I also can't figure out how the panel bass is preferable over 2 SUB-1's... most of the time ~ Emotiva / Maggie synergy?

Maggies should be a virtually ideal load for Emotiva amps - Their impedance is smooth, never drops below 4 ohms, and Emotiva amps are able to deliver LOTS of current under those conditions.

And if the Oppo UDP-205 lacks MQA decoding (that I'd still like to hear) then I may try out a Mytek Brooklyn DAC...

I may be opening a can of worms here, but why the focus on MQA?
Hhmmm, do we have a separate thread on this? It pretty much took over the main RMC-1 thread for several pages ...

Hi Casey Leedom - The vast majority here s**t on MQA (without having heard it). Yes, the technology is likely to fail due to the front and back end licensing-fee loading, but I'd still like to play with it just to hear it for myself. I'm hoping that Oppo includes it on their 205 player, but if not, I'll either go somewhere else or wait to hear it in a store (unless a bargain comes along).

Warner has embraced MQA now and the list is growing. I'm not writing them off anytime soon.

Emotiva PT-100 Emotiva SA-250 Focal 1037BE (replacing the Focal 1027BE speakers)
Now, just kicking back and enjoying the tunes that Tidal can stream to me.
