I have noticed "break in" with every new speaker I have owned. All changed for the better after a certain amount of hours on them. This wasn't a perceived thing or getting used to a speaker. It was a noticeable change. Just my experience:)

I am very quickly getting demotivated in doing business with Emotiva. I did purchase a set of T2s, or so I thought. I contacted them and they said that they indeed will not be available until October (In Emotiva years that probably means December). But, I noted they had no problem charging my credit card. They did acknowledge that there is no information on their web site showing they are back ordered. I asked if they could refund the money to me and then charge me when the speakers were actually in stock. In the response they said that they are going to refund my money and cancel my order (not what I requested) and I can contact them again in October.
Looking hard at Def Tech and Goldenear now. More money, but Emotiva is driving me nuts. Anyone want to talk me off the wall or would I just be better off going with someone who actually produces the gear they advertise.

The T2's are big sellers right now, what they should most likely have told you is that in order to reserve a set of T2's the funds are needed, otherwise it would be a first come first served without any promise that a set were yours. Rarely IMHO does Emotiva drop the ball so hard but in this instance maybe they could have better explained. Many times people want to preorder an item and when it comes in they change their minds leaving the producer extra stock that they didn't antisepate. One more note, It should be stated that they are out of stock and that these are preorders for the next shipment. From everything Ive heard about these speakers, the value is closing in on Unobtanioum , patience is a virtue.

Executive Summary: The rumors are true! If you're wondering whether you should buy these for a big room, go for it! This isn't really a detailed review of how the speakers sound. 'just initial comments for now. So far, it looks like Emotiva has delivered another great product at a reasonable price. Thanks guys! Anyway, a pair of T2's found their way into my great room. Their treble & mids are more detailed than my previous not-so-cheap audiophile speakers. The bass response is really good & tight, even musical. The cabinets are very solid. They sound good in a big room (21x27x23 ft) and their soundstage is wide & directional. They don't really need a subwoofer for music, except for demanding tracks. They've reproduced several different styles of music really well. They've only played a dozen hours. I haven't had enough time to fine tune their placement, etc. So, it's too early to give a decent review, but I'm convinced that the very solid cabinets & modern driver designs are better than anything I've had with normal cones & dome tweeters. Yes, they are big, black speakers, which tend to disappear a bit (well, next to the rack of black equipment from you-know-who!) The cabinets have a black (leather?) fine-grained vinyl covering and the grill cloth is quite thin, in a good way. The speakers are less visually obtrusive with the grills on, but speaker fans will enjoy having the drivers visible, in all their high-tech fiber-reinforced glory! The Not So Good:It really is great that Emotiva focused on the speaker more than cosmetics, but I still wish we had the option to pay more for other colors or finishes. Even plain brown, white or tan would be better for most rooms with normal furniture, I think. Unfortunately, it would complicate manufacturing & distribution, and mean less room in shipping containers & warehouses for other products that we demand(!) Emotiva has so many products & product lines. I wonder how they keep up with them as it is... Perhaps an enterprising partner company could customize and redistribute for a fee. Offering grills in other colors sounds like a really good idea for minimal cost, too. Delivery:
UPS shipped the speakers with signature required. Emotiva arranged to have them delivered to a nearby UPS store and they arrived before 10 AM. The store charged $5 per box, which was more convenient than waiting at home for UPS to show up later. WARNING: Each speaker ships at 71 pounds. So, you really should have help loading & unloading them! (I do moderate weight training, but wouldn't want to do it alone.) The speakers were double boxed, with no padding or spacing between them. The outer boxes had prominent Emotiva T2 graphics. You shouldn't leave them unattended for long! (Hmm, what's that, on the neighbor's porch?!) Surprisingly, the boxes had smaller T2-L & T2-R labels on the outer boxes near the serial numbers. I didn't see it anywhere else though. Unboxing:The outer boxes arrived in decent shape with a few scrapes, etc. They had slight crush damage, enough to affect the inner boxes, but the speakers were protected by thick styrofoam strips on the sides and end caps made of more tough (plastic?) foam. The styrofoam on the bottom & top of the boxes was glued to cardboard to keep them in place. A couple had broken loose during shipping, but remained in position. In Emotiva fashion, the speakers were dressed in close fitting black bags, taped on the bottom. The bags were made of a thin, soft, tough material that seems to be spun (like Tyvek?, but softer) I had to feel the speakers to see which end was the bottom, in order to set them upright while still in the boxes and slide them out where I wanted to set them up. One of the grilles had slid off in the bag, since it's held in place by magnets. The speakers were easier to place than load & unload, but they're still fairly big & heavy, at 57 pounds each. I didn't find any documentation in the boxes, but it wasn't a big deal. I was surprised that the speaker jacks didn't accept inch-spaced banana plugs, but wider may be better if you're connecting 600W amps to them. Using spade connectors is probably a better idea anyway. The terminals are good quality, of course. Big rubber feet (approx. 1 inch diameter) & smaller (half-inch?) metal spikes with locking nuts were in small ziplock bags taped in one of the end foam caps. The spikes weren't as big or sharp as I've seen on other tower speakers. It might be nice to have longer spikes to decouple the speakers from the carpet, but putting the speakers on big ceramic tiles should work for me. Disclaimer: I have not received any compensation for this post. I'm just a happy customer, writing in case it helps someone else.

Yep, they sold out of T2s early Sunday at Emofest. People taking orders knew this and were telling people that they would ship orders in October. At least one Emotiva employee mentioned website problems. It's surprising that it doesn't show them as out of stock and they charged your account when the order was placed. Most companies request a soft hold for the funds, to ensure that they can charge when they ship though. Still, it would be nice to have the option to place an order and have them ship when they arrive. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the October shipment sells out of T2s. I talked to at least two employees about my order and everyone was very nice & helpful.

This may not be T2s, but I just got notification of my XMC-1 shipping, ahead of their estimate. So maybe your speakers are coming soon too!

Contact our Sales department to get an updated ETA for new stock. I normally don't follow the cycle of ordering or current stock levels, but the news that we sold out on Emofest weekend was gratifying for me. A similar thing happened with the T1 speakers - demand was bigger than expected, and the initial stock didn't hold out long.

You sound like a proud father congrats on the success Rory, I own three Chane A5rx-c towers up front and have been thinking of trying the T1's across the front but I don't have the funds to purchase them and do a side by side comparison haha, it would be nice for them to be in some sort of blind speaker shootout as I'm sure they would do well. I've been looking on the web for the following but have come up short - forgive me if it's addressed elsewhere: are the E2's still in the works or has it been scrapped?

Yes, we were told they are on the water now. Very much looking to replace my ERD-1s with the E2s. Looks like they use the same wall bracket so if you have ERD-1s it would be a simple matter of removing the old and mounting the new on existing brackets.

I stood up at Emofest and asked Big Dan when the E2's would be available and he said late October. It had already been pushed back from early September so don't be surprised if it isn't available until the end of the year. I'm just as excited as anyone else to hear this offering.

I bought an XMC-1 and an Airmotiv S12, so waiting on both too Yep, I had an S12 for a few weeks in January, sent it back for that "hum" repair. Since they decided for a more robust reengineering of the board it's now taking Emotiva time to do it. Latest I heard (from a post here) it was looking like the end of the year. You could say that I've been very patient! On the other foot, we are scrambling to get the house emptied and cleaned up so we can move early next year, so if Emo keeps delaying on the S12 we won't have to move it, but get it shipped direct to the new house perhaps
