I'm experimenting with the PE (parts express) DTA-1, a 'chip amp' of VERY modest specs. I'm using ONLY the Wall Wart but might try the 8xAA option. It is working well IN MY GARAGE which while a system with fairly low expectations is also vastly better than any of the beater systems I've heard in most other garages.
I've got some 'gifted' audio source speakers, probably 4" 2x with a fairly robust box and am using an iPod Touch for the source with MP-3 / 160 files. The iPod is topped out at IOS 3.0, so you KNOW it is ancient, a Gen1 or Gen2 device. But it works fine and is doing its job.
Good clarity and a clear clipping point and loud enough with the garage door OPEN to annoy the neighbors, even if I wasn't playing SuperTramp, Crime of the Century!
This is a casual 'review' but I'm so pleased I had to share. Since speakers and 'pod were gifted? total cost about 32$ Take THAT!

Flea-watt amps often sound better than expected, in my experience.

I suspect when driving something of VERY high sensitivity that this amp becomes an absolute Giant Killer.
PE is also advertising the 652 speaker system as a 'mate'. These are also amazing in their own right and can be had with the small dome tweeter OR a version of the Heil AMT for a few more $$. Either way, pretty neat.
I was thinking of checking out some 5 1/2" automotive 2-ways but don't know where to start. I may go out to a car stereo store for a brief listen.

Yes. It's a personal issue I've been in therapy for. My Shrink says it's not a BIG deal but i am aware of my habit.
Why does that bug you to the point of needing to remark upon my Writing Style?
Can you contribute something to the thread or something about Chip Amps or good matching speakers?
I use all caps in subject Titles for Legibility. It's not really shouting, you know. If someone were to Yell in your ear, you could easily tell the difference.
Sometimes less IS more.
I May Have missed my True Calling.

In my opinion it's a distraction, to the point that I often end up skipping over your posts. But please feel free to do as you like and ignore my comments on your writing style; I will comment no more

Wikipedia is fake news. It has always been "bleu" cheese and now I suppose progressive people are trying to change it. But bleu is bleu no matter how you spell it.

I think the argument is that "Blue Cheese" is the type - a broad category that's not necessarily French (bleu). Gorgonzola is apparently a blue cheese. But is it bleu cheese?!
