Hello,
I bought 2 XPA-1's for a new 2 channel setup with a Cambridge CXN as the digital player/pre-amp. The CXN has a trigger output, but it is only for other Cambridge products.
I know i could leave them on all the time, but is there an external or remote device i could get to trigger the amps on remotely?

Really? An exclusive to Cambridge trigger?
That, and not including the BT100 receiver (a rip-off @100$) in the purchase or as a built-in feature is just another reason for me to skip Cambridge.

It doesnt have a trigger it has a control bus.

You can control it with an app. But ONLY Stuff in the 'system'.
IMO, I would have avoided ANY component with a proprietary bus connection system. Another standards-free 'hook'.
Congrats you are now locked into the CA 'system'.
I owned a CA840 CD player. Fine piece of goods but had a Serial Port which meant that you needed a null modem cable and the correct OS for updates, which they stopped giving out after a while since Either a LOT of people 'bricked' their player OR they decided it was a revenue stream for dealers and technicians.
I had trouble with the player not locking into the bitstream from my Apple AirPort Express. The software update was supposed to Fix that.
Good luck getting ANY information from CA, which with some ingenuity may allow control of a non-system component.

Normally if you don't have a 12v trigger often you have will have a switched outlet so you can use a wall wart as a trigger but unfortunately your Cambridge has neither. One option would be a home made IR remote controlled trigger if you are handy these aren't too difficult to make. Here is a link to someone who made one posting it here on the lounge emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/807476/thread I think there was another posted here recently as well maybe a few weeks ago or so. Another option is a remote controlled power outlet or power strip, I'd use this to plug in a wall wart 12v trigger rather than plugging your amps into this.

I am in the process of making an IR to 12v trigger based on arduino. Have it working on a breadboard just waiting for my permanent components to turn up.

Or you could just use the power switch
clap on clap off-lol

Doesn't appear to have any 'standard' trigger outputs OR a switched outlet. The switcher from EMO needs to have switchable / variable time delay to enable at least 1 or 2 of the outlets.

Plug one of these into a wall or strip outlet and a 12v wall wart connected to one amp and daisy chain to the second amp and you'll have remote controlled amps.

Or you could just use the power switch clap on clap off-lol In this case you must avoid listening live music session.

Thanks for the ideas!
I did get an echo dot for Christmas.
i think that with the wall wart (connected to a wifi wemo plugin adapter) and then daisy chaining both amps, should work.
Then i can just say, 'Alexa, time to rock two channel' and have both amps trigger on. That should work a treat.

Timing MIGHT be a minor issue. I personally do Not like turn-on 'thumps'. Turning amps on after preamp might prevent this. Off first, then.
Hosko is on to something with those Arduino projects and boards.
