That's right. Lonnie did not say the MC700 had the Panasonic chip. Here is what he said:
"the video switching in the MC-700 is using mixed receiver types. Inputs 1,2 and 3 are routed through the Silicon Image 4K chip where 4,5,6 are routed through the Analog Device chip"

Off track, but when will the new XMC-1 board be available and is there a ballpark cost. yet? Need to save some money and be prepared. Not the one currently available now for $350, correct? That has only one in and out @ HDCP 2.2 We need some timing for the more advanced board and the Atmos upgrade. (does one include the other?) Too confusing at the moment. Correct, the new one that has not been released.

1. Yes you are correct. One thing to consider though is HDCP. If your computer or the blue ray sends out a signal that has HDCP 2.2 encryption, then you will have to use input 1,2 or 3. But this is unlikely since your TV probably does not support this anyway. So as long as the higher encryption is not there it will work just fine. Our processor will pass the signal on through. But if the higher encryption is present your TV may not show the movie. 3. Please keep this in mind. The Panasonic chips do OSD over lays on 4K and they will be used on the RMC-1 and the upgraded HDMI board for the XMC-1. But those processors cost considerably more then the MC-700. To meet the price it was not possible to use those chips. If you have to have OSD then I suggest the XMC-1 with the new HDMI board or the RMC when it is released. Thanks for your further thoughts on these. re 1. I currently have the new Oppo 203 connected directly to the Sony 4K TV (non-HDR display) and it plays the three test movies I bought, all with HDR, with that direct connection. The TV is the 2015 model XBR43X830C but even though HDR wasn't added until the next year's 2016 model, it claims to be HDCP 2.2 on all 4 inputs. As long as the MC-700 doesn't alter this equation I'm happy, I just don't know yet which inputs on the MC-700 I will have to use. If things will flow (ignoring HDR) on the 4-6 inputs, and give me OSD overlay, I will be a happy camper. If I am forced to use 1-3 inputs to play a source movie that contains HDR, I will be an unhappy camper, since I would lose the OSD. This would force me to use inputs 4-6 to do all set-up, then switch to 1-3, but then back to 4-6 if I want to make a change and see the menus on the screen. I will know very soon... the MC-700 is "on the truck" to be delivered today! re 3. I understand the cost issues for the MC-700; I think some of us were just surprised to learn we had this OSD issue. The RMC is way beyond my monetary consideration. The spiffy XMC-1, I'll have to think about that price level as well (my UFL will at least make that more palatable). What I was wondering was if the being-redesigned EMP-1 might be a candidate for a chip that supports OSD over 4K, assuming the EMP-1 is going to come in somewhere near $1K.

2 questions: 1. Is it possible to rename the inputs? 2. Is it ok to leave the microphone plugged in all the time? The rear of the unit is not readily available and my girlfriend seems to change the room around every month. 1. yes.. there is a rename option in the input setup, but i've not been able to make it work properly. the menu references a "RETURN" button on the remote, but the included remote doesn't have this button. i tried using my umc200 remote which does have that button, but couldn't successfully get it the rename to work properly. i can't remove the trailing '0' no matter what i tried, so, for example instead of my desired name of 'tivo' i'm getting 'tivo 0'. (there is a Del key in the character editor but its not working for the last character)

I figured out how to rename and had the same experience that you describe.

New issue. When watching TV I keep loosing the video signal at the TV. The audio stays on but the video is gone. For some reason the TV is switching from Receiver to TV. I never had the issue when I had the video hooked directly into the TV.
The bluetooth is also unpaiting after a couple of minutes. This is happening with several sources (tablet and phone).

Good luck Percussionista, Let us know what you find out.
I have a quick question: Did someone mention that the OSD will displayed using SI chip if I'm running at resolutions less than or equal to 1080p? if so, what's the cutoff point?
I don't have too much to worry about since my ancient projector is only running at 720p anyways, but obviously i will upgrade this in the future. I mean, the new pj probably wouldn't be 4KHDR. I'm the kinda guy who waits for trickle down technology and will pick one up in a couple years once the tech is solid and the prices drop. I DO have my mind set on an LG-PF1500w this year once they're released. and maybe pick up a used Oppo 103D.

As near as I can tell, the menu does not display at any time on HDMI 1-3 unless your inputs are 4K (or there is nothing plugged in). However, you can use 1-3 with 1080p or lower rez inputs, which is positive.
As previously noted, while the onscreen directions in the Menu tell you to hit the 'return' key, there is no return key on the remote. 'Exit' works. But then you are out of the menu and have to go back in.
Menus aside, the audio quality of the MC-700 is excellent. Played some hi-rez audio and was quite pleased. Can't compare it directly to my XMC-1 (different rooms, different speakers) but wholly satisfying with films and music. Was glad to see the MC-700 passed 3D signals, which I expected it to do, but you never know what gotchas might be lurking in a new design.

Anybody else having trouble with it retaining the custom names? They are there until I power the unit off. I entered them 3 different times and now have learned my lesson....will wait for further instruction.

And.....I cannot get ARC to work with my Samsung LED.....worked fine with UMC200....MC700 says ANALOG 2-CH on ARC input which doesn't make any sense.

In short, there's an issue in the firmware that will be address.

No sound output except from headphone jack.
I tried to set up my MC-700 today and I am having problems with it.
===
My setup:
Into MC-700 1) squeezebox audio into the coax port 2) Nvidia shield into HDMI 1
Output of MC-700
HDMI output #1 into Theta Casablanca HDMI port #1 (hdcp 2.2 enabled, 4k capable)
Output of Theta CB hdmi to Sony 4k tv
Output of Theta CB hdmi to Theta amp
===
Using the Nvidia shield with Netflix 4k, DD+:
MC-700 says it is getting 5.1 DD+ audio from the shield
I DO get a 4k picture to the tv (this is Nvidia shield -> MC-700 -> Theta -> tv). The shield is correctly detecting the 4k tv.
BUT I DO NOT get any audio output from the MC-700. The Theta does not show any data coming into it!
Using the squeezebox:
MC-700 says it is getting 2 channel audio from the squeezebox
BUT I DO NOT get any audio output from the MC-700. The Theta does not show any data coming into it!
I tried loading the default settings and power cycling the MC-700. It didn't help.
I tried changing the Option -> HDMI Out setting from amplifier to TV but that didn't help either.
The downloaded manual did not say anything about this setting. It would be nice if Emotiva released an updated manual online with the release of the hardware.
When I hook headphones up to the MC-700 I do hear the audio.
Somehow the MC-700 IS sending the video to my Theta preamp but it is NOT sending audio to it via HDMI.
Maybe I have a defective unit? Does anyone else have this kind of problem?

Why are you going through the theta, just hook the mc 700 to the amp

I am using the mc-700 as an hdmi preamp into my theta (better dacs)
Last night I started getting audio output to my theta! I have no idea why it started working!
Mc-700 display says "no audio" but the theta is correctly playing dd+!
I still can't get the coax audio working. Mc-700 display says it is getting 2 channel audio but it is instead playing the Netflix audio from the shield.
I think it sees the video stream and so it outputs that instead of the music.
I tried going into the settings and setting the coax video input to an unused hdmi source but it didn't help.
I guess that the setting for the video associated with the coax port should have an option to set it to "no video"

It has been 3 days since I got my MC 700 Marantz Cdp to analog works.. Cable TV to optical works... Oppo to hdmi 4 works.... Renaming of inputs....no go.. Main menu..no parameters...only trims. Video on standby ...no go....so hdmi output 2 to my flat screen. Otherwise sounds good/ looks good/ matches my XPA 5 gen 2, running my X -REF speakers. Can only wait for bugs to get fixed soon.

I am not able to get ARC audio from my Panasonic Plasma (VT-30). Worked fine on my old receiver, but I do not get audio on MC-700. Using HDMI 1 output.

Last night I started getting audio output to my theta! I have no idea why it started working! It's because the MC was rebooted, so was the source and so was the Theta. It will happen again (your loss of audio; sometimes loss of video). The MC will get confused/not sync correctly and the workaround will be to reboot 1 or several of the devices in your chain, sometimes in a certain sequence, that will allow the sync'ing to succeed. When it happens again, you'll have to try different reboot permutations to find what will get it working again. As they improve the firmware, it'll be less frequent and more consistent.

Version screen in osd shows:
TV1EDIDError
TV2:HDMI HSR41
Anyone know what the error means?
I still can't get two chan audio out (from coax) to hdmi working.
