I'll live with what I've got for now. I'll also EQ the 20 to 100 Hz. range.
Does anyone make a ⅓ octave software equalizer that runs in jRiver?

My StereoIntegrity HST-12 shakes the house down to about 15Hz. I think it would go lower if I had a more appropriate amp powering it. That being said, I am finally building the SI HST-18 that I have always wanted. Going to drive it with a speaker power sp1-4000 plate amp. This means I no longer need my SuperCube Trinity and I'm planning on selling it once the HST-18 is finished. So.... Boom you want a Trinity???

I'm using one in my HT and it really brings the goods in terms of low notes. Incredible bang for the buck. Scott Glad you like it Scott...

I knew of one, where's the other?

I knew of one, where's the other? Same place as the first one. See attached snip. There is a check by "Parametric Equalizer" and another at the bottom for "Parametric Equalizer 2"

You can tell wifezilla it's an end table. It's only about 170#...gar can move it for you when you need it moved. Mark

I do think that these belong in this thread, and in this conversation, regardless of what one ends up choosing...

don't forget to factor in room gain , many subs can't get that low with any output but with room gain you can get closer

OK - For me, game over. The parametric equalizer in jRiver kicks booty. If you have a ported speaker, you can realistically get a ¼ octave extension without over stressing your power amp. With a sealed speaker, you can (probably) get a ½ octave extension for the same power output.
Considerations:
Will your speaker tolerate 2x the power in the low bass? Some can't. If you overextend the woofer suspension, you've ruined the speaker.
Will your power amp deliver 2x the power in the low bass? If you have inefficient speakers and limited watts available, you're begging for clipping - again, a ruined speaker.
Are you asking for bass beyond what the speaker will provide? In ported speakers, particularly, if you get below the port-loading frequency by much, the cones become unloaded and can "flap." Not good...
Note that the "2x the power" spec implies ONLY a 3dB boost in the sound pressure level (SPL). For some speakers, this won't be significant, but for others, it makes a HUGE difference (with apologies to our Tweeter in Chief).
Also, the Q (a measure of peakedness of the curve) is critical. Too low a Q (too wide a curve), and your bass becomes muddy. Too high a Q (too narrow a curve), and you get "one-note-thump" style bass, ala car stereo.
So IF you have relatively sensitive speakers + IF you have plenty of clean power to spare + IF your speakers are robust enough to handle the extra power + IF you're using sensible parametric equalizer boost settings, THEN (maybe) you can do without subwoofers and still enjoy truly great low bass.

Some of the DIY builds are just off the charts. I'd love to have time to play with one sometime. Buddy of mine from Canada built these beasts. 21" drivers.... damn Scott I was just talking with Mike last week, He's dumping the beluga's and moving the ftw's to sealed enclosures. Those were pretty cool when I was at his place helping him set up his eq though. Just wait till you see his iwata's that Tux(Ryan) has been working on.

Lots of ways to get to bass-ville. If your speakers have enough cone area and are able to absorb the extra power, equalization may (or may not) be sufficient.
But for true LOOOOOOW bass, nothing beats a few subs. The more the merrier, and the lower they'll go the more they'll show.
If you're truly a bass-head (I'm not) then sub out!
