Hello Ed and welcome to the Lounge. This is the second incident of a situation similar to yours that I've heard since this second shipment arrived to the customers. It seems, maybe, that this later firmware has some issues of its own that wasn't present in the original shipping firmware. I would call Emotiva's tech support Monday to make them aware of your issue and seek their advice. If they cannot resolve your problem, maybe they can offer you an early build of the firmware if it's not to late in the process to regress the DSPs. To me, your discription sounds like a failure during decoding (sound, then static, then nothing). You "could" try setting your sources to output PCM to see if that helps until you can speak to Emotiva directly. It's too bad they don't, at the very least, post the latest "official" firmware on the product page for download. If you had a copy, you could reflash the firmware on your own to rule out firmware corruption. Sorry that I can't offer a better solution....

I think is better to call Emotiva customer support. This kind of threads open the door to non owners, maybe the competition to create drama. Specially if they are non registered members. Just saying

Don't assume that I am not actually having a problem. This product is brand new and your under the assumption that there won't be any bugs? That's your first incorrect statement. Secondly, we are looking for an answer to these problems if you don't have an answer don't waste your time.

I think is better to call Emotiva customer support. This kind of threads open the door to non owners, maybe the competition to create drama. Specially if they are non registered members. Just saying Given the problems that this unit has had from day one, its a little ridiculous for you to post what you did. You want to hear problems? ? I bought mine on 12-2-2016.Im an actual buyer, Emo can validate that. 1. I still dont have a proper user manual. The President of the company promised it 6 weeks ago. Not a word since then. 2. I purchased the BTM1 to use it as they advertised it would work. It unpairs after a minute or two and its not the BTM1 thats the issue. No word on a fix. 3. I cannot use ARC as advertised. No word on a fix. 4. I cannot use CEC. No word on a fix. 5. I cannot rename my inputs, no word on a fix. 6. When I purchased the unit I was told they would ship prior to 12-30 by the VP of Sales. That didnt happen. 7. I called customer support to relay my issues in January. I was told I would receive a call back. Chirp chirp chirp. Not a freaking word. This product was not and continues to not be ready for prime time. So it sounds good....thats a plus but I have 4 work arounds to just use it. The customer service is horrible yet people on here will tell you they gave out coupons to compensate for UMC and XMC issues. Really, when a company has to give a coupon because they fell down, it is not good customer service. When was the last time they updated anyone on what they are doing to correct their defective product?

Why don't stop the aggravation and send it back?

Add me to the list of owners with the same issue. Mine has the original firmware. It's a shame because when the unit works, it sounds terrific.

Hey thanks for welcoming, definetly calling on Monday to get support. By the way after moving the HDMI switching to the DVDO Quick 6 and connecting audio thru Toslink even the Toslink started to fail audio too, unfortunately it appears the unit is getting worst with the additional hours of use.

Since this list is growing, and apparently has no bearing on firmware version, I would HIGHLY recommend that everyone who's experiencing this issue to CALL EMOTIVA on Monday. Please don't waste any more of your time watching this "user based" forum for a resolution. It's apparent that you have a legitimate problem and it needs to be addressed. They need to know, directly, that there is a problem that appears to be hardware related and specific to your units. That is certainly going to be your fastest route to a resolution.

I did that already and they NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I think the biggest issue is all the enabling that goes on here. There are so many people (myself included) going through all kinds of contortions to make it work. Where I draw the line that others don't is I'm not giving them a pass. I purchased a product based upon their marketing collatoral and frankly speaking it doesnt perform to that promise. Yes it sounds good but does not perform some key features. Emotiva OWES us an explaination on what they are doing to solve the issues and when we can expect resolution. They jump on here sporadically say something to calm the masses then fail to deliver. So for those of us who are past the 30 day return window, specifically how long has it been extended? We dont even have a legitimate user manual.

Why don't stop the aggravation and send it back? Thats a good question......I purchased it nearly 4 months ago and hate to go through the research phase again. That and they dribble just enough hope to keep you in the game. I've waited this long and now I feel they need to take care of me just on principle.

Basic functions dont work. As for the manual, yes more and more manufacturers are indeed offering online pdf versions. In this case however, Emo (Big Dan no less) promised us a professionally produced hard copy 6 weeks ago. They cant even deliver on that. I would be embarassed. Do they not understand "under committ, over deliver"?

(HDMI output to my TV the whole time mind you). I experienced audio drop out with a Squeezebox source playing 2 chan. PCM 44khz, I tried several coax cables, optical and then analog output from the SB. In all cases audio would fail withing a few minutes of playing. EMO RMA'd the unit. Appears to be a bigger issue than HDMI cable choice. Picking up my re[palcement later today. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hi All,
Another new MC-700 owner with the audio loss issue. Mine has had the issue from the moment is was first plugged in. I actually ended up troubleshooting for several hours before I came across this thread showing that others were seeing the same issue.
Tried all different combinations of devices, HDMI inputs, HDMI outputs, HDMI cables, and analog audio cables. Luckily the next day my brother in law let me borrow his MC-700 to test on my home theater. His was slightly older as he ordered it a couple months ago but never opened it because he is having his home remodeled. Out of the box his had FW 2.8.1 while mine had 2.8.7. His worked flawlessly upon hooking it up. So of course I thought it was the FW.
I was able to get FW 2.8.1 from customer service today. Unfortunately even with the roll back of my FW from 2.8.7 to 2.8.1, it still experiences the exact same symptoms. Audio loss, sometimes accompanied by cracklings in some speakers and even the high pitched noise that caused my entire house to go on high alert when I was first troubleshooting at 1AM on day 1.
So if you are having this same issue, don't waste your time troubleshooting FW 2.8.1 vs 2.8.7. It will not fix the issue.
I work in a similar field so I get that sometimes issues occur for new products. However, I am disappointed in Emotiva customer service for not creating a thread acknowledging this issue, reassure the customers that just dropped $700 on what is effectively a brick, and let us know they are working on a solution with some kind of timeline for resolution.
Come on Emotiva, you are better than this. Just admit there is an issue and give us an idea of what you are doing to get it fixed.

Same issues; ordered early Feb, got it today, audio cuts out after 5-30 minutes regardless of source, video will keep streaming if hdmi source.
