Since this list is growing, and apparently has no bearing on firmware version, I would HIGHLY recommend that everyone who's experiencing this issue to CALL EMOTIVA on Monday. Please don't waste any more of your time watching this "user based" forum for a resolution. It's apparent that you have a legitimate problem and it needs to be addressed. They need to know, directly, that there is a problem that appears to be hardware related and specific to your units. That is certainly going to be your fastest route to a resolution. I did that already and they NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I think the biggest issue is all the enabling that goes on here. There are so many people (myself included) going through all kinds of contortions to make it work. Where I draw the line that others don't is I'm not giving them a pass. I purchased a product based upon their marketing collatoral and frankly speaking it doesnt perform to that promise. Yes it sounds good but does not perform some key features. Emotiva OWES us an explaination on what they are doing to solve the issues and when we can expect resolution. They jump on here sporadically say something to calm the masses then fail to deliver. So for those of us who are past the 30 day return window, specifically how long has it been extended? We dont even have a legitimate user manual.

Well received my MC-700 on friday and excited began disassemblying my deno 3905 and hdmi switcher to set up. Experienced user and installer but tead the maual anyway cover to cover..basically i experienced all every fault that has been already outlined in this thread and then some...several resets and attempted work arounds with no joy. 48 hrs of frustration and several times i thought the unit noise emissions would ruin my 15,000 dollar speaker set up. Emotiva claims and packs a tremendous amount of value at the price point of the MC-700 BUT all the value in the world does not mean squat if it doesn't work.AND it doesn't work 99.9% of the time. When it does i admit it sounds amazing but the only thing that works with ANY reliability is the remote amp trigger.SMH. Now i have to say that i followed the drama of the XMC and the UMC..but gave Emotiva a shot despite the numerous posts and complaints. I thought growing problems and they woukd work them out...apparently not yet..had i known that Anthem had come out with new AV processors albeit at twice the price i in hindsight should have gone that way.I have spoken with customer support been refered to tech support and am 48 hrs later still.waiting on return call. I will give them the benefit of 48 more hrs as i am sure they are working on a plan and if not it will be returned and an Anthem purchased. This is not acceptable.

Hi,
I received it on 14th March and I´m having the same problems you´re describing; audio and video cuts and sometimes it doesn´t work well. I wrote and email to technical support and they answered me to give a solution in a short time.
I live in Spain and I have paid around 350 dollars for international shipping and taxes and i´m really disappointed for these problems.

Yes, it's unacceptable for any company to say they will call back and then they don't, but that has been my experience with most companies unfortunately. If I don't get someone or am told they will call back becasue so and so is not available, I just call back till I get satisfaction. Having said that, always be nice when explaining your issue. I do agree that Emotiva needs to confront this head on and explain what the problem may be, how many units are involved, is it systemic or isolated. How are they going to address the issue?

Hi, xevi, another one from Spain here, they have sent it to me but it's still in the States, in the mail forwarding company warehouse. I have emailed emotiva support to know before shipping it to Spain if it's better to send it back to them or just wait and hope to receive it ok. But so far, I have had no answer yet.

Wow this is crazy!
I was in the market for a top prepro and decided to pass on all of Emotiva's offerings and went with the Marantz 8802a.
Guess what amplifiers I have? Yep all Emotiva!
Amps 👍 Phono stage 👍 Cables 👍 Prepro's reliability 👎

Hi, Emotiva customer service were very good, and shipped a replacement and emailed me a UPS return shipping label out the same day i called them. I would of recieved it in 3 days except for the North East US storm last week. I plugged it in last night, but have only had about an hour of listening time. So far so good, all sources seem to work normal in regards to no audio cut out. I have noticed a few peculiarities others have mentioned such as the "mode" defaulting back to Dolby PLLX, or something similar after an soft on/off . To be fair I want to spend some more time with it before commenting, as it may be operator error. Couple of quick questions for anyone who might know: 1. what is "AllStereo" mode? And how would it apply to 2 channel PCM ? 2. I have enabled HDMI CEC on both the MC700 and my Samsung TV. I was hoping when I turn on my MC the TV would come on as well. So far the only thing that works is when I turn off my TV (with the Samsung remote) it also turn s off the MC700. Any suggestions?

Call them again talk to Lennie he is managing the issue. I have talked with him on mine MC-700 and we think is a termal issue, he told me he does not have replacement units since they are stocked out so I wait. Ed

So if you bookmark it, you'll know when a new podcast goes live without having to keep checking... Hi All, This really should be coming from Emotiva Tech Support since they obviously know what the issue is and are not being very forthright. Please see below the reply for processing the RMA that I am sending my unit back. "We have discovered a fault in a few MC-700 preamp processors relating to a small thermal sensitivity issue, traced to random audio dropouts for no apparent reason. Our engineering team has a simple fix to add a small dissipater on the audio DSP.
If this is what you are experiencing, please use the instructions below to send in your MC-700 for a replacement unit that has the dissipater already installed.
If you would like further information on this service issue or would like instructions on performing this service to your MC-700, please let us know and we will be happy to help."
Don't wait on the podcast ... call them and demand to send the unit back for repair / replacement. Honestly Emotiva support should be ashamed of themselves for not getting on this thread and providing an update themselves. (I told them that on the phone as well.)

I agree with you on principle but making sure the fix works takes long hours of testing termal issues are not subject to a quick fix and is a hardware issue. The MC-700 sounds great when it works.

I experienced the same problems with the first MC700 with loss of sound and rattling noise. Sent it back and received new replacement that has been working perfectly for a few days! Still working as designed as of today March 30th. They should have designed the cabinet with ventilation openings like they did with the ERC 3 to prevent any heat issues!

That´s what "design to cost" gives you. Such a heatsink costs basically nothing, sad that it wasn´t used in the first place just to be on the safe side.
I also wonder why this wasn´t found before shipping, no long time and/or environmental testing?
