Buy an old set of speakers from the golden tube amplifier days (your amp is a knock off of an old classic). I paired my Marantz 8b with an AR2ax in the 60s and many others used Dynaco A25 speakers with such amps. You went for old tech with your amp, go old tech with your speakers. Before the coming of the push pull Williamson amplifier, most tube amps were low power SET devices used with highly efficient horns. The Williamson design allowed for driving less efficient speaker designs, thus the emergence of multiple driver speaker designs and the sealed acoustic suspension speakers like the AR designed by Edwin Vilcher. Otherwise, ditch everything and go all new stuff.

To quote Billy Joel....."You get more mileage from a cheap pair of speakers". My sony speakers sold for $600 a pair and I got them new at a Circuit City closeout sale for $200 a pair. That was 13 years ago and I am listening to them now and they sound great. I got a bunch of miles from a cheap pair of speakers. Here is a review of them. www.positive-feedback.com/Issue19/sonyssk70ed.htm

Revel speakers are very good speakers. They do more research than anyone else. Someone name me someone that does more. Define "more". Some manufacturer in China might put 1000 man years in research, some other manufacturer 2 man years and the result is the same. It's the result that matters. Wait a minute. Are you counting the time that it takes to get ready to work and all the breaks that you have to take. What about the time spent cleaning up after. Do they have a anechoic chamber and Dr. dude ? You have to have a Dr. dude to get good results.

I have been a B&W fan since my twenties but was unable to afford the B&W's I wanted so I went with monitors of all makes....KEF, JBL, ELECTROVOICE, AVANCE all excellant IMHO. The B&W are what I anticipated for that real life sound....who can argue with ABBEY ROAD! Wilson, Radio, and may I add the latest from Focal Supra and I almost forgot Dynaudio

Bowers & Wilkins(in more top recording studios than any other speaker) Wilson Raido When I lived in Saudi Arabia there was a pair of the original Bowers & Wilkins 801 that I would listen too and I was in love with them. The reason I am saying Revel is because they are making good speakers for prices that are way below B&W 800 series Diamonds. B&W make great speakers and Emotiva is using them as there reference last I heard. If you can afford B&W they are good.

There are many good speakers out there. B& W is one of about two dozen brands that are fine loudspeakers

A speaker that may sound great but looks like a creature invading your home and makes you dog and cat run away when you turn them on can be a real turnoff. Your wife will hit you with something hard if you bring them in the house so that's a thing. I think you can get good sound from a simple looking, proven design speaker for $500 but I suggest you spend more just like a turntable if your serious.
