Beginning to build an all pc system. I have on order a microrendu and also a su-1 singer ddc. I'll be feeding the su-1 via a is2 cable. Anyone with any experience? Help welcome.

Ok the MicroRendu is a complex device for some to understand. I don't say that as a slap in the face, it took me awhile to get what it does.
The MicroRendu is an Ethernet to USB Bridge. There are several ways to use this thing.
This is how I use mine: PC Running Vortexbox Operating System with Minimserver as DNLA Music Server, it lives in my basement and has no keyboard or monitor. It is a dedicated audio file server. It literally has a power cord and ethernet cable plugged into it.
In another room ( where my stereo is) I have the MicroRendu connected to my DAC via USB. It has an ethernet cable in and USB out.
I control the music through the MicroRendu with the Lumin App on my iPad (Lumin is a company that makes high end network music players and their app happens to work with the MicroRendu). The app takes music from the Vortexbox Server and sends it to the MicroRendu.
In your case this configuration would be MicroRendu USB to Singer SU-1 to DAC. -----------
There are other configurations available, like roon or the PC (running windows) can directly send the audio to the MicroRendu from your music player program (on your pc, if it has that feature).
Tell us more about your intended setup and I'll try to help.

I highly recommend joining the CA forum. I've been to some of their meet-ups and that community is loaded with people have been computer only (myself included) for years; nothing can stump them. URL: The Computer Audiophile

Do you want to control the music from your PC or a Phone/Tablet? I will eventually want to control from a laptop. Currently I can use my phone.

Me I have done the computer thing and the Oppo 105D streaming thing with all the glitches and glotches. You can have it all. The best purchase I have made is the addition of a Sony HAP Z1ES TB1 which is a all in one computer audio system. No a glitch ever. Best $2000 ever spent

I'm gonna give it a go and see what I can squeeze out of it. I have a lot to learn and am not getting any younger. But I have patience and am willing to learn .

What works best for you will depend to a major degree on what you're hoping to do.
For example, I needed something simple to play music files - in one room. It doesn't need to serve files to other systems in other rooms, and it doesn't need to work with streaming services.
So I put all my files on a USB hard drive, installed Volumio on a Raspberry Pi, and connected them together. The output is connected to my XMC-1 via USB (but you could connect it to the USB input on anything). Control is via any web browser on any smart phone, tablet, or computer. It works perfectly, and the interface is decent. Total cost (not counting the USB drive) = about $50.

so...what are you looking to gain? and how do you plan to use it and control it? Mark more music and better versatility. I don't know yet, I jumped in with both feet and don't know how to swim in the PC world. So, I have not heard a microrendu, but I have used a PC to feed a DAC. The single biggest issue I have had is how to control it and finding a great interface. I find the JRiver and Tidal interfaces sufficient, but controlling them from my couch is a bigger challenge. I can start my projector and use a wireless keyboard, but this is hard to do...looking way forward to a distant screen and typing and mousing is not easy. I continue to look for better solutions. My thread about Controlling a PC from an Android or Surface detail that. Having only looked at the microrendu on a surface level, I have no idea what the interface and control options are. If I were you, I would study that first. if you love the sound but hate the interface/control...you won't like it. I would also consider a mini-PC or "NUC" system with a Windows 10 Pro OS if I were starting from scratch. You can get these for low prices and use native Windows Remote Desktop to control it from your laptop (assuming you are a Windows guy...if you are Apple based, I am of no help). Some people fret over the "ordinary components" or noise floor of a low end PC solution. My best sound has come from a bottom dollar Dell PC to a great DAC...so, I smell bovine excrement on the high end PC argument. Mark

As stated before: 1- Build a PC and make it a music server. I like the vortexbox operating system and use the mininserver dlna server to serve up my music files to the network. 2- at your stereo install Ethernet Cable --> MicroRendu --> USB Cable --> Singer SU-1 --> I2s Cable --> DAC --> Analog Cables --> Stereo 3- Load the Lumin App on your Phone. Point the App to you Vortexbox Minimserver and Select you MicroRendu as the Output Device
--- if your computer control is going to be Windows 10 you can substitute tge Linn Kazoo App for control ( Kazoo is on phone too, but I like Lumin Better
--- another option if you want to go directly to the laptop route. The Microrendu can be setup as a target device in some music apps like J.River. You could use J River to play the files on the MR. All the music would be on your laptop and you would send it to the MR.

The are simpler solutions. The Sony reportedly sounds great. The mR is a bit convoluted to setup, but sounds glorious.
I have used a few different devices to feed my DAC before the mR and the mR sounds the best. I tried to get a couple of converts here when I heard how good it was, but had no takers. Before mR I used - Squeezebox Touch, Atom Based Silent PC (with Windows and JRiver, Daphile Linux) also a Naim UnitiQute, all out to my DAC. I literally spent years trying to find a combination that sounded really good. The mR with Teddy Pardo PSU sounds amazing into Gumby.

Just upgraded my iTunes, BitPerfect, Apple TV, to XMC-1 optical or HDMI input to Roon, SOtM sMS-200, UpTone Audio LPS-1, to XMC-1 USB streaming input The sMS-200 is a Roon endpoint. The Roon core is on my Mac mini. They recognized each other immediately. Could not have been easier. I'm in heaven!! Russ

If you are willing to pay for roon, it is supposedly superb. I am not willing so I can't comment.
