The usb format is correct. I used the exact same device to upgrade the MC 700 once before. The firmware is definitely on the usb stick but the MC 700 will not take the update. Have you tried to factor reset the unit before the firmware update ? Seen that some users must do it

I bought mine 4 weeks ago. It came with 2.9.1
But I instantly put 2.9.2 on it, as I got no picture at all from my HTPC

Thats why MC700 are in the backburner and no comments about any updates on this unit. Have never thought this when i bought the unit summer 2017. Should not be supriced if a updated unit comes to MC700 because its hardware related to the Hdmi board.

But the 2.9.1 update is quietly being shipped with a new unit but not officially released to all. What's up with that?

I have a very early unit (preordered). I finally tried to upload my firmware today, surprisingly enough it worked just fine and fixed my ARC problem. I’m expecting the heat sink in the mail this week, hopefully that takes care of the audio drop issues.

How do you do the factory reset? Where to download 2.9.2?

I just purchased a second MC-700 (I guess I really like them) and it came with 2.9.3 installed. Haven't been able to figure out whether this fixes any of the MC-700's quirks as it's for a second location.

I was just working an HDMI connectivity issue with an MC-700 and EMO sent me a 2.9.3 version. Said it fixed an EDID issue for 7.1 sound, but apparently that is not my issue. I have narrowed down my issue to the nVidia card I am using (for music from the PC to work over HDMI, I needed to have my TV turned on to get a connection). The lousy on board intel audio driver works, but the nVidia HD audio driver does not. Anyway, EMO is non-existent on telling you what issues are resolved in a particular release and what other anomalies are not fixed. No documentation, just a .bin file.

Since everyone is on the topic I am having issues with HDR HDMI and was instructed to set the unit to 4.2.0
What does this mean?

I don't have an MC-700, and I'm definitely not familiar with the User Interface Settings, but I'm betting that the 4.2.0 that they are referring to is a Chroma setting of 4:2:0.

The advise was form Sarah and she is aware I have the Mc 700. I am torn between asking questions in forums and over email. I feel like forums is less obtrusive. I looked through setting and could not find a 4.2.0 i am noticing some weird behavior since installing this system. It could very well be a learning curve but why did the tv turn on and PS4 when I turned on the receiver. Or sometimes the pass through not work. HDR is not working through the Mc 700

The MC700 seems to have problems with a lot of 4k formats aside from strictly UHD 4:2:0. This is not a setting on the MC700, it is a format that your PS4 or bluray player or other source will output.
If you ask Emotiva what formats are supported, they won't be able to answer. At least, they still haven't told me despite asking several times. All they know is their HDMI switch vendor tells them it complies with HDMI 2.0a, but they really don't seem to have tested this themselves, or know exactly what the MC700 actually supports.
I've been waiting weeks for them to address my problems with my bluray player and the Chromecast Ultra and the only answers I have received is that they are going to look at it, but haven't had time yet. It's a shame really, I love my other Emotiva products, but the MC700 will be my last Emotiva purchase.

It does not say what version it is, but it is named "MC_700Release-2.bin" and stamped "May 21, 2018 8:30am", size 719 KB. The previous firmware is named "MC_700Release.bin" and stamped "Feb 5, 2018 10:37 am", size 719 KB. If there are no known issues with this firmware, I'd like to install it, but in general I don't like to upgrade firmware without release notes. Can anyone else confirm?
