Just before I switched my trusty XPA-1Ls out for this DR-2 I was playing them. So while I was expecting some improvement, the amount of difference between them was surprising. I am not an expert by any means but I know what sounds good to me. Those of you who have owned or heard XPA-1Ls know that they sound good. What I immediately heard with the DR was improved upper bass (I'm using subwoofers crossed over at 80Hz). The DR gives an impression of "tighter" control of my speakers along with with a dead silent background. The highs are notably clearer at high volume. I had always noticed that at high volume highs with the XPA-1Ls seemed to get a little "edgy". Not the case with the DR. Cymbal hits sound like you are there. I have been replaying all my favorite music the last few days and I am just blown away by how good my system sounds to me. Unfortunately I have little to no experience with Emo amps such as the XPRs that might be considered to be more directly comparable to or better than the DR but if they sound better then they sound very good indeed. My amp upgrade search is over. Kelly

Rather strange to see only one person has a DR series amp in the wild.
Hope to hear more reviews!

Rather strange to see only one person has a DR series amp in the wild. Hope to hear more reviews! Someone here on the forum indicated that there are others who have received DR amps. Not that it's going to change my mind about mine but I'd like to hear how any current/past owners of XPRs compare their DR-1s and 2s to their XPRs?

Wow those Tekton's make the Gallo's look puny. So do you use the different speakers for different types of music?

That was what I was doing with all my speakers and now I am down to just the Tekton's & Gallo's. I hardly listen to the Gallo's anymore. I sold my Magnepan 1.7's, Golden Ear Triton II's & Ohm Walsh 100's "got tired of moving & hooking up speakers but I like the look/aesthetics of the Gallo's (I know, a stupid reason to keep them)

Hilarious - massive speakers with a dinky TV. Surprisingly common. But more importantly, considering your DR-2 arrival:

Do you have the opportunity to spread it out a little or are you limited by the room?

I like the look/aesthetics of the Gallo's (I know, a stupid reason to keep them) No no, I think they are very cool looking. I considered them back when I was speaker hunting 10+ years ago. I wish I had a secondary room for them so I could buy a set.

I have a question about the DR-2 topology. Is it like the XPA-1 Gen2 that starts out class A and then switches? If so how many watts are class A. Probably a stupid question...
