Bit confusing putting an avr in the processor section Nick ? With future pre pro's based on the RMC1 too a bit of diversification may help ; but whatevers logical I agree with; the old XMR1 is of course now the RMC1

I'm discouraged to hear about this. Going to a sourced amplifier practically puts Emotiva out of the amplifier design business and Class D at that! I'm more disapointed that Emotiva, with a small engineering staff, has spent time on such a product when they are late on delivering needed products such as the HDMI boards and the Atmos boards for the XMC-1,2,3,whatever, and the RMC-1. We'll see, I want Emotiva to succeed, but this gives me concern. First switched power supplies and now Class D - dang it all!

Yes, the Pascal modules ARE Class D. Pascal amp board? So it's Class D?

Agreed, But it is an Emotiva prepro with somebody else’s amp section, isn’t it?
Edited

Agreed. The other thread, technologically speaking, is like 20 years old.

I see it differently, they’ve taken the development work on the XMC-1 and RMC-1 and added an outsourced amp. It seems most of the work they’ve done here is design packaging, and amp research. Since they have no real history with Class D it seems like a good way to get their feet wet, and there has to be down time when primary projects are paused waiting for other work. I hear your concerns, and I certainly don’t want the RMC/XMC and upgrades to be delayed, but I’m interested to see what they come up with.

Well honestly it's a fantastic product. Look at it! An all in one super AVR - that's what it is. It's going to outclass everything else on the market. Basically an XMC-1/RMC-1 with amps. They've also put in class D which means that if people want to explore the rest of the line up - well you've got class A/B. Unfortunately its price means they are going to need to come out with a lower end unit if they want the emo regulars at this forum to jump in. It's just a lot of cash. For a super end-all be-all AVR, probably about right. But for us, ouch!

Agreed it’s expensive, but the same price or less than the RMC-1 which it shares heavily with, so they’ve already breached that price point.

It seems like my $500 six year old Pioneer AVR will continue to fit the bill.

Agreed, But it is an Emotiva prepro with somebody else’s amp section, isn’t it? Edited I think most people would call it an AVR regardless of who makes the amps. The old XMR-1 thread should just die, it’s been replaced by two RMC-1 threads with more accurate and up to date information.
