I believe garbulky called it, it’s the noise floor. I understand what a noise floor is. I just can’t understand how a floor this high is tolerated. I’m listening to the first track of Disintegration by The Cure and the noise is SO LOUD. I’m listening tonight on a pair of Aeon Flow Closed. I went to Audio Advice yesterday to listen to some integrated amps to see what I should purchase and out of the 6 I listened to, 3 of them didn’t have any noticeable hissing/buzzing. The NAD 7050, the Peachtree decco 120 and the ELAC something or other. The other 3 - a Cambridge audio amp, the Rotel A-12 and some other one I can’t recall the name of. The NAD didn’t have any analog inputs so I could hook up my record player, the ELAC sounded boring and lifeless and the Peachtree cost $1200. :/ OK, I think Im officially lost in this thread! 😲 Please remind me what exactly has this very high noise floor.

OOK, thats what I thought. You’ve spoken with Emotiva? You’ve returned it to have it checked out? They sent me another unit. I’m only 2 weeks since purchase so it’s going back and I’m moving on. I keep trying it just in the hope the noise goes away or I get used to it. Neither has happened.

Ive run the TA-100 using every conceivable option except running gear through my tv to the unit. Black as night noise floor with speakers or headphones. I once had a ground loop problem with two units that just didn’t like each other and there was NO way to get rid of it, but they were not both Emotiva units

Have you tried just a source other then a tv and the amp with your headphones?
If so, what?

Have you tried just a source other then a tv and the amp with your headphones? If so, what? It happens with nothing plugged in. And, yes. The Mac mini and my turntable. But even with nothing connected but the power cable and absolutely nothing playing, there’s a hiss.

How do you have them both connected to the amp?

I'd shut OFF the MacMini because of the SMPS and try again. Unplug it, too. I know it is an FCC Part B issue, that a device not give any interference and must accept same, but switchers are possible source of such interference.
I'd also turn OFF any fluorescent lighting and dimmers.

I'd also turn OFF any fluorescent lighting and dimmers. As I said, I went down to my brick walled basement with nothing even near it but the power outlet about 4’ away. Still very noisy. I really appreciate all the troubleshooting you guys have given me. Lots to keep in mind when ruling things out. Thanks for all the help!
