I took that away at first, but then - there was a statement Dan made that also made it sound like the XMC updates wouldn't be available until after the RMC was in production. This statement started at ~8:25 in the podcast. It would be nice if this was the first clarification Dan Laufman could make. Otherwise, speculation will abound...and speculation gets really old. And, annoying. Mark If XMC updates means the XMC-X Gen 3 thingy, then it is possible for the V3 HDMI boards come first. - Rich

I took it as that the HDMI v3 boards will be ready shortly; like within a few weeks. Then when the chips/boards are ready for the RMC-1 the updates for the XMC-1 would be ready as well; I heard that as the ATMOS boards.

I think that instead of various interpretations, a company statement would be more than welcome. Even if it says we don't know because blablabla May ÃŽ recall is was expected for last summer. I just don't understand this kind of communication. So it will be late buy one year? This is not the best forecast I have seen.

The video board is done for the RMC and the same board will be available shortly for the XMC , they are waiting on the chips for the atmos board which will be made in april god knows when they will get them. Thats what i heard. So a little happy a little sad and a bit optimistic for the RMC guys. Happy Friday

This is exactly what I got from the PodCast, but I can see how Mark interpreted it the way he did.

Mark Didn't Dan say in this PodCast that a weekly update on all things related RMC-1 would be forthcoming? If this is the case then I'd expect Mark's point on clarification to be addressed. I however still think the V3 HDMI video board to be making its debut(by the end of March?) before the Atmos/DTS:X audio board.

I am hoping the V3 HDMI will be very soon as he appeared to say. That would help end a lot of the speculation and make a lot of people happy (except those who refuse to ever be happy!). Mark

Their milestone update is the way to communicate - project management 101, so well done. That being said, I would just recommend assuming the worst and be pleasantly surprised (vs. assume the best and be disappointed), but stop pissing and moaning if it's delayed. They are clearly bad at predictions but you have to understand 1) they are trying their best, so they aren't missing them for lack of effort (which is what' most important), and 2) it's a hobby, so choose to enjoy what you have instead of choosing to be bitter about what you don't have (yet). Humor helps, if it's not malicious. Take one for Socketman and drink heavily a few times.

That doesn't make sense. In Post #1, Dan said that "the (board) is approved for release". Wilbur ; I agree to the average person that's unambiguous .With an understanding on the process its best to take in the whole comment ; That's industry shorthand for the pre production chipset approval ; like all new chipsets from any manufacturer does; production quality chips later... The delay is the glitches found in beta testing [ status reporting only not video throughput] referred to in the podcast . Its well to remember that Dan is an audio engineer and speaks in those terms unfortunately . I personally had hopes as did many I expect to either send in an XMC1 for both options at the same time or buy a fully optioned one of the shelf . With the delays between boards this has an effect on feasibility ie more wait time... On the subject of using reliable proven atmos chipsets ; whats more likely to happen ADI et al rewrites the code on all the older falcon chipsets for more than 7.1.4 out there or writes new code on faster more bandwidth chips like the griffin light for those clamouring for more channels ? . What chipset has the grunt and is compatible with hdmi 2.1 ? nuff said.. Its nice that the podcast mentioned Emo are the 1st cab of the rank for the new chips. Whatever happens this is the sort of info that firms up your intentions one way or the other; its good

I really do wish there was STICKY and LOCKED thread that was updated (by Emotiva staff) with real concrete facts on what the XMC-1 upgrade paths are and what the status is for each...
HDMI V3 for whatever it is Atmos or more than 7.2 whatever it is
Dirac for the above.
Firmware updates
Driver updates
and PLEASE PLEASE proper firmware release notes.

Hey and good morning to all! I purchased a pre owned XMC 1 (USED) lol about a year ago. I really do enjoy it. Its the ver. with just one output #(8) with 4K HDR. With out reading though countless posts and navigating all over the web site has the upgrade board with 4k on all outputs been released yet and available?
Thanks Fritz

I sold my XMC-1 in August 2017 for a few reasons, but only one reason was due to the XMC itself - that is the lack of HDR and DV support. Long ago EMO said they would have the compliant HDMI boards ready before any other devices (i.e. TV, Bluray player, etc.) support the new format. Had the boards been available I may still have the XMC today. Well, we see how that turned out. I must say the XMC-1 is much better than the Marantz SR6012 that replaced it in terms of sound quality and room correction. It's such a shame they STILL dont have the HDMI boards ready. After I move to a new house this summer I would like to sell the Marantz and get either an XMC-1 (if it has the new HDMI board) or Anthem AVM60. Not holding my breath for the new HDMI board though.....
