What concerns me is that this board is taking away valuable man hours that could be used to move the XMC-1 G3 forward or the RMC . Hopefully this is necessary for both . I think all the issues with the V3 board are more related to compatibly with the old technology in the XMC-1. This board was designed from ground to be compatible with the RMC-1 and XMC-1 Gen 3. At Axpona and CES 2018 the RMC-1 was showed with a JVC RS4500 and had no issues. Then as soon they put the board inside the XMC-1, all the bugs came out and new code had to be written to make it compatible with the XMC-1. As far I know the delay in the RMC-1 and XMC-1 Gen 3 is because the main board chipset is not available yet. Or it could have nothing to do w/the "old technology" in the XMC...it could be that the bugs were only found once they got enough beta testers, which they appear to have had with the XMC-1 but likely have not yet with the RMC-1. My guess is that the RMC-1 has only been used with a narrow range of input/output gear at this point. All the speculations on reasons for delays is interesting, but...it's just that. Speculation. Question: Is emotiva still going to have an option for existing owners to get a ATMOS upgrade? How will it work? Is the HDMI 2.0 card part of this or is that separate?

I give up! 🤪 For the XMR-1 +$500 for the power amps sounds a bit cheap, +$1500 is more likely. If they start selling XMC-1 Gen 3's (with 4K HDMI & Atmos/DTS-X) for $3K a lot of XMC-1 Gen 1 & 2 upgraders are going to be mightily peeeeeed off. ($900) if done together) $2000 + $1000 = 3K! Whats to get get mad at? They got (will get ) their upgrades, whats to get mad about. The XMR-1 is too far away to be worrying about, but I’d be expecting around $4K. Where are these definitions? XMC-1 gen 1 XMC-1 gen 2 XMC-1 gen 3  ? I was thinking along the lines of; XMC-1 gen 1 = the original 1.4 board ($1200. To $1999) Somewhere in here the 1.4 board was replaced for a single 4K HDMI ( $400 and free upgrade to all 4K out HDMI XMC-1 gen 2 = new V3 board to add all 4K HDMI ($500) XMC-1 gen 3 = V3 board and Atmos ($500 by itself or $400 when done together with V3 upgrade) XMR-1 = V3 board with 8 HDMI 4K AND Atmos speakers out. This is 11 powered channels and two subs out RMC-1 = 7 4K HDMI and Atmos with 16 channel XLR out, no amp and priced at $5K picture shows 13 channels plus three subs out This is what I recall, right wrong or different. It would be VERY kind if an Emotiva executive would clarify my stab at my recollection. |
