Are there any pictures of the inside of the ERC-1/2 drive assembly with the cover shield off. Is possible for user replacement of the disc drive unit?

Here is the drive unit, if I remember correctly it was a ribbon cable that plugged into the drive and also a little connector for power to the drive

I wonder if that replacement unit is still available from any sources and what its current price might be. The unit i am looking at on EBAY has a shipping price of about $65.00 and the bids are still quite low with 5 days left. Some heavy thought if it would be worth my while......

Comparing the part # with the one I replaced mine with that is the right one. Chad

I have a ERC-2 with a bad drive unit. Would this also work for the ERC-2?

I placed an order with them. $45 total inc shipping. We'll see how it goes.

It looks the same but the Model of mine is S036CK8HX whereas the Model # of the Altronic item is S036CK8SA. Maybe at $15.00 I should take a chance! Is $45 now the price?

$50 including fedex/dhl shipping. I got confirmation this morning. Placed an order and I'll see how this works out. I really hope this is a drop in replacement, as the ERC-1 is perfect for my needs, especially with the multiple outputs.

I really hope this is a drop in replacement, as the ERC-1 is perfect for my needs, especially with the multiple outputs. From what I remember it was pretty simple, take the cover off and the internal cover and remove the drive and unplug the cables from it, just be very careful removing the drive not to damage the cables. Sorry I don't have better pictures of the actual connections themselves but I circled in red the two connections for the drive, one is the power connection and the other is a ribbon cable and you can zoom in a bit on the picture when you click on the link I put here below. I received the drive today. It IS the replacement for the drive for the erc-1!!!!!! My issue was not the cables. It was the screws that bolt the drive to the chassis. Three screws came out fine. The fourth was impossible. Ended up stripping it. I was able to remove it eventually with no damage to the drives internals. What is amazing is how light and plasticy it feels, compared to the heavy externals of the player. I may order another one for backup.
BTW, there are three cables to disconnect. And aligning the drive with the supports that shim the drive to the correct height is a real pain. Took me an hour to get it carefully lined up.

One final thing. The original cd drive has felt lining along the entrance. The replacement drive doesn't. So the felt was probably applied by Emotiva.

Yes sorry I forgot about the exact procedure as it was a few years ago haha, didn't seem to bad on my end from what I recall anyway Chad

Does anyone know of a source for these CD drives? I tried the link above and it takes me to the website of the company but I cannot find the specific part. Thanks! Joe

My ERC-2 has been failing to read the discs for a while now, sometimes it plays ok though. It was a intermittent issue. They would load and eject fine. So , I saw this post and did some research and located the web site of Alltronic, located in Singapore. They carry a replacement Optical Loader apparently for the ERC-1/2. The part# on mine was a little different than the one listed , but very close. I ordered one , hoping to try and see if it will work in ERC-2. The model# was S036CK8HX on the drive in the ERC-2. The cost is $27 plus $20 shipping. Here's a link to the Alltronic web site. Will update when i get the new drive installed. alltroniccomputer.com.sg/products/audio-cd-dvd-optical-pickup-loading-assy-sfhd850-s036ck8sa-sanyo
