Well In my quest for audio nirvana I cannot justify replacing my XPR’s . I’m more willing to replace speakers, dacs or transport than my amp or Audio gd preamp. My last experiment was a pair of MCs 601. Triple the price and nothing new, anybody else out there still in love with the xpr-1’s?

I own three XPR-1's. I love them and wouldn't sell them. No better amps out there for their price. I have had XPA-1's gen 1, XPA-1 L' s, own XPA-1 gen 2's, SA-250, RPA-2 and none sound or sounded as good with my system than these XPR-1's.

They are the kind of devices you could purchase and just sit back and rest easy knowing that you are getting the best performance out there.

I also had the XPR-5. Not as good as the XPR-1 by far in my opinion.

The XPR-1’s ARE in a class by themselves! I’ve either owned, still own or have heard almost every Emotiva amp but their newest line. Beauty, power, dynamics, hands down the best SS amp Ive ever experienced.

Your Epicon 6 is a great speaker. Particularly good is the hybrid tweeter module. I had the opportunity to listen to epicon 8 and I liked it a lot. Believe me, give the DR amps a chance - you can return them, but I'm sure you will not give them back . Your Epicons will open like my Jamo 909. I was very pleased with my Xpr1 (especially in combination with the Mcintosh C2500) but that which gave me new DR1 exceeded my expectations. I have never heard such real sounding vocals, acoustic instruments, but also cymbals, violins and the piano. My system has achieved an even higher degree of realism.Perhaps a great synergy of elements of my system arose, but it is certain that thanks to Dr1 I achieved this final, great effect. Give the new Dr a chance and see for yourself what I mean. ps I also had a Mcintosh amplifier (mc 452) - for me it was a bit more enjoyable in listening from Xpr, but in the end I was not convinced and I chose Dr1 Well In my quest for audio nirvana I cannot justify replacing my XPR’s . Is there any info from Dan about the differences among the xpr-1's, xpa-1's and the new DR-1's??

Unfortunately the DR-1's weren't what i expected. I moved to Bryston 28B-SSt2 monos and I'm really happy. I don't have any emotiva equipment in my reference system anymore. IMO I think Emo put the 2ch market on the back burner, nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of choices out there for everything

Nothing against Emotiva, just a totally different league...Congrats! Tim

Well, there are 2 of the XPR-1s for sale here: www.audiogon.com/listings/lis91c4e-emotiva-xpr-1-1000w-monoblock-pair-extras-solid-state?refsource=hifisharkAnd besides the weight there is the question of amperage draw. What do these take? 30 amps? Think that I have peaked out with the XPA-1s just purchased from the last ones available. Garbulky and novisnick have been very helpful -- thanks guys. Have got them setup on separate home circuits -- one on 15 amps and the other on 20. But the second requires an extension cable and the cords with normal plugs max out at 15 amps. IN ANY CASE do not think that the PS cable offered with the XPA-1 is more than 15 amps. Called Emotiva to get specifics yesterday but could not talk with anyone. Have the XPA-5, XPA-1L, and now the XPA-1 amps. The latter is clearly the best of the three -- and by a large margin. Suspect it pales by comparison to the XPR-1 but it is so good with my system I can live with it.

The XPA-1’s are extremely good amps and the jump from the XPA-1Ls to those is much greater then the jump from the XPR-1 to the XPA-1’s. Your new amps don’t require a 20 A circuit, but it couldn’t hurt. I have my two XPR-1’s running on a single 15A circuit without any problems. Enjoy the music! 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼

novisnick: Thanks, am listening with terrific enjoyment and Emotiva, RME, and Tekton are all responsible -- as are the people on these threads that make it all work together. Wonder if amps are rather simple on one level: the best have the largest toroidal transformer and gobs of power -- preferably a lot of Class A. My experience with Class D has suggested this newer technology is not there yet. Found that putting each monoblock on a separate circuit DID make an improvement in sound that I can only describe as more secure and "continuous." In any case, would like to join your secret monoblock society and hope there is a secret handshake...

The feature that did it for me is the ability to change from balanced to unbalanced input with the flip of a switch. In my setup, this gives me essentially two separate systems, In stereo mode, the XPR-1s are fed a pure analogue signal. In surround mode, the XPR-1s and the other amps (not pictured) are fed a multichannel signal that comes from my prepro (also not shown). Soon, I hope, I'll add the RMC-1. Bonus points for anyone who can identify the black 'box' under the Oppo player.
