For what it's worth, I always format my USB thumb drive before copying Emotiva software. And do an explicit "eject" when the copy ends. I do not usually format the stick but do always eject as Windows corrupts files at times. I usually disable write cache to minimize the chances of that happening but... I have 2-3 sticks around but don't use them much at home (usually transfer over the network when needed). My main one has a bunch of other stuff on it I didn't want to mess with, and the one I usually use for FW updates and such (my "scratch" USB stick) my wife borrowed for a work presentation (they asked her to put it on a USB stick for a talk she was giving, then didn't supply her with the stick ). The one I used is pretty ancient, but I figured all the XMC-1 would do is copy the file then never touch it again. I was astoundingly vexed at how long the FW update took, and astoundingly amazed that it actually worked after all that time. I figured it would bomb out, brick the processor, and leave me with a huge headache. That's the way my luck usually runs... Good advice, and I'll reformat that drive this afternoon or this evening just to be safe. These things wear out and if there are errors I'll probably just toss it. We go through a lot of them at work. I also did the CEC test and it passed. It was a little harder to do than I thought because I couldn't see the front panel, could barely reach the front switch, whilst flipping the back power off. I also verified that I had already moved my wireless access point (WAP) to a different outlet on the UPS so I can just flip the switch on the power strip to bring everything else down. Willing to provide margin but far more impatient than some of you I waited 30 seconds then hit the switch again. About all my old knees would take squatted at a wild angle behind the console. I changed all HDMI inputs but the Oppo (just Comcast STB and a couple for older devices not used much) to HDMI 1.4. Now the wait to see if the last little bugs (for me) are fixed. The "no sound" is a big PITA; it seemed to work OK after power cycling, then gradually got worse, so it may take a little while to see if that is fixed for good. I heard little scratchy popping noises in all speakers as I switched from the STB to the Oppo last night; that is new, but they were not too loud (though I routinely take the volume way down when switching sources) so I am not worried (yet). I am anxious to see if the louder (though again not real loud) pops/glitches that occur as sources (STB or Oppo) switch formats, e.g. from 2.0 during the trailers or commercial to 5.1/7.1 for the movie, are reduced.

Well, over an hour now, and it moved to "VfyMainApp". Not sure what the heck is going on but guess I'll leave it for now and see if it eventually completes. My day job experience with FW updates is that Bad Things happen when interrupted. At work we have tools to recover, but for this it'd probably be a trip to TN. I sent on note to Emotiva from the website's "Support" page but it's Saturday (of course). I was hoping to watch a movie this afternoon, first chance in couple of weeks. Oh well, back to work. I have had two cases since the update where the unit goes into glacier paced mode. Sometimes, a power up command takes 30 seconds to a minute. It is no different using the volume knob. So far, they have all been when the HDMI is selected but I am using the Balanced inputs for 2-channel listening. When it last occurred, the Vertex was plugged into HDMI-6 (the Oppo HDMI input). I unplugged that input and the output but that made no difference. It may be that your XMC-1 also got trapped in a tight-loop which caused the super-slow update. - Rich

The brief period of weirdness ended. Starting yesterday when I switch back to the Tivo Bolt (from any other source). The TV flashes (the double sync) and when it switches the input on the TV to a Different HDMI port. I can simulate the issue by simply switching inputs on the XMC-1 so I know it is not a weird remote command being issued.
Did a full shutdown and the issue remains.
It only does it switching back to the Tivo Bolt.
Ugh...

Once Emotiva starts to swap the XMC-1 with V-3 board for the XMC-2, I wonder if there will by any option to move up to the RMC-1 at a steep discount (Credit for surrendering the XMC-1)?

Firmware update installed without a problem, but I still lost center channel and surrounds when HBO GO went from a Game of Thrones episode recap (2.0) into the actual show, (5.1). Also had a 1 second audio dropout during the show, which is down from 3 last week.

All I have been watching this week is Directv and OTA. Since switching the HDMI input to 1.4, I have had zero center channel “no sound” issues. So far so good. Stable.

Its an interesting correlation with the RMC1 Firmware that the audio dropouts are linked to streaming rather than bitstreaming from a disc or Directv and OTA as cawgijoe found dropouts sounds like the clocking/buffering is important for a fix

Trade in of XMC-1 DetailsFor customers looking to move up our more advanced platforms, we will offer the same trade in allowance on the new RMC-1 and RMC-1L models. Your cost for upgrading your XMC-1 under the same trade-in terms for these two models is as follows: RMC-1 trade-in price is $2999.00 RMC-1L trade-in price is $1999.00

Does the above imply more discounts the for the RMC-1 and RMC-1L or am i reading it wrong?

Trying to stay positive, but it is really tough. The sync issues are back with a vengeance (with my Tivo Bolt). My Tivo Bolt is not happy at 4K, with the Auto setting it dropped back to 1080p and this was after a blank screen after a bunch of reboots (both the Tivo and XMC-1).
The new firmware did help my Oppo issues...but it made the Tivo issues come back.
Ugh...frustrated.

Any word on when the XMC-2 will be available to trade-in the XMC-1?

I read it as you can trade in an XMC-1 for an RMC-1 if you pay an additional $2999, or for an RMC-1L if you pay an additional $1999. If you read the whole referenced post, it does indicate what multicore said above.

I have reacher ou to Emotiva Sales about interest in surrendering my XMC-1 for am RMC-1L. Seeign as I bought my XMC-1 very early in the product launch, I am concerned about the being under warranty clause seeing as there is no RMC-1L in the product line to trade up to and the latest launches took much lo9ng that anticipated which, could put me out of warranty before there is a product to trade up to

So for me, the real question is when will the Upgrade be available? I only need to know which month it'll start, like June, July, etc., so I can plan out the rest of my life. Thursday: eat breakfast, act like I'm working, have a nice lunch, lurk in the EmotivaLounge . . .
Most likely I'm in the XMC-2 camp, but the RMC-1L looks interesting through binoculars (when the camp counselors aren't watching me).

After a bunch of cable swaps and testing, the issue with the TiVO not syncing is a compatibility issue between the XMC-1 and my Sony Z9D TV. If the TiVo is plugged in direct, it syncs right away every time. If the Tivo is into the XMC-1, if the TV is turned off, or you switch the port it will not resync. The TiVo is set for 1080p and that doesn't matter. If I unplug the cable from the back of the TV and plug it back in, the Sync is back.
This was working fine with the previous version of the firmware and worked OK with the new version right after the upgrade. It has progressively gotten worse over the past week.
This isn't the first compatibility issue with Sony TV's...... Hopefully, Emotiva can figure it out.
Although...the other devices sync OK. I can switch to the Roku or the other TiVo and it works OK. The Roku is the only other 4K device.
What is weird is that TiVo Bolt to TV is fine (Turn TV on/off and it is synced). XMC-1 to TV is fine for anything other than the TiVo Bolt. TiVo Bolt to XMC-1 to TV is problematic (if the TV is turned off or the XMC-1 inputs are changed)
Frustrating!
Update 5/4
Tried setting the Resolution on the TIVO to 4K (not Auto) and it is working again. My current theory is that the Auto setting was causing the chain to drop the sync. Not sure why it would drop at 1080p (fixed). But happy it is back working
