Comparing the PA-1 to the SA-250 is like comparing an XPA-2 gen 2 to a PA-1. So he's right that it's not the same thing. Imo this would be fantastic for a space saving living room/office setup which is also cost effective. If they can actually manage to do the sound well that is. Still waiting to see the specs on the pa1. Hoping it's a contender due to the fact it's 1. A monoblock 2.A stealth line product 3.Fully differential I've had xpa2, x pa5, xpa1L, mps-2 and an xpr2 in my room, so far I like my Class D Audio Sds amps better than all of them. Perhaps it's the implementation but I don't dismiss class D amps so quickly.

It looks like it may be fantastic!

Garbulky: You are right, Emotiva got the website updated already. However, the manuals still list the older A/B description: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2572/6926/files/airmotiv_subwoofers_user_manual_v10_1.pdf?13828455179500218696As I have mentioned before, spent 2 weeks comparing a Nord Stereo UP Class D amp last year with my Emotiva XPA-1l. To my ears, and for my system, much preferred the class A Emotiva and have two of the last XPA-1s coming in July. For now, will be sticking with class A for my acoustic and orchestral needs. Would not be surprised, however, if improvements in class D made it a superior choice in the future.

I hope I'm not asking for a scolding and I realize we don't know much about this amp but I think $300 is a bit steep. However, Parasound's Zamp v.3 stereo amp (45 wpc) has a similar form factor but without balanced inputs for $349 so maybe it's not a bad price. I guess I would like to see a DC-1/DC-2 form factor stereo amp but I'm likely an edge case.

Boy am I disappointed...the S12 and S15 will be class D? Am not fond of this type and find it thin (and yes, know it is used for bass amps). Better get the web pages updated as the current ones praise the A/B amplification for the subs. All the subs I've owned until my current sub have been Class D. My current sub, a REL, has A/B and, even though likely in my mind, it seems warmer to me.

PA-1 does NOT have a 12v trigger to switch it on, however it does have a signal sensor.

Actually, since they're Class D amplifiers, it probably doesn't even really matter if they were powered on 100% of the time. A lot of the devices in our homes which have a Standby Mode consume on the order of 5W. A Class D Amplifier when powered on with no signal might actually consume less than that.

What are these amps for ? Public announcements ? Telling people there hamburgers are ready at a family summer barbeque ? Surround sound ? Seems a little expensive for surround sound. You can use them for a great sounding 🤞 small footprint mini system like this. DC-1 or soon to be released DC-2 plus an analogue SP-1 plus a set of PA-1 monoblocks to power almost any speaker set. Could be the answer to many folks requirements.

Can't wait to see the first person buy 11 of these and do a 7.1.4 system with all monoblocks.
I remember years ago someone did a 7 channel system with all XPA-1 Gen2 monoblocks.

There's no specification as to the power supply and also capacitance. +/-1db 20-20khz. How about some AP tests?

Hey Nick, any idea if there are plans for higher power Class D amps in the works? Also, why are the specs so crappy on this, Garbulky touched on this already? Seems like every launch of new gear has the specs rated to 1KHz at 1% THD. Not exactly a raving spec. Let alone for $300 you can buy a Crown with twice that power and better THD. If the aim was to put together a bookshelf system, I know of zero people willing to plunk down this kind of money. Thanks, Tim

Hey Nick, any idea if there are plans for higher power Class D amps in the works? Thanks, Tim Per podcast, they have built custom classe D amps for the subs. S12 is 500 RMS (about) and the S15 is 650 RMS and peaking at 900 or so.

Along the line of the PA-1 with higher output.
