Hal Blaine. Don't see anyone else close to 150 top ten hits and over 35,000 recorded tracks.

Peart and Bonham no one else comes close Baker, Mitchell and Moon but then Baker was a jazz musician. What about all the great jazz drummers?

Someone else's idea of top drummers. Yes, I would include Ringo. Why? He was perfect for the Beatles music and fit the music like no one else could have.

I'd like to give a nod to Roy "Futureman" Wooten.

I would just like to thank everyone who has mentioned me, John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham. Nice to still be recognized after all these years

I dislike these lists anymore because EVERYONE always fails to understand and confuse one big thing.
There is a big difference between the "BEST" and "GREATEST." They are NOT synonymous.

I agree with Bonzo, but would also add that I reject the question for being too vague. Rock is a very broad field, as opposed to jazz, which is improvisation by definition. If you asked me who is the greatest rock and roll 🎸 drummer of all time, I would focus first of all on “Rock&Roll” 50’s and 60’s drummers. Mel Taylor from The Ventures Dino Danelli of The Rascals (formerly called the young rascals.) as a few examples. Forget Buddy Rich....Yes Buddy could do things to this day nobody can touch, but with Rock?? Forget it! He was all over the map, with a never ending drum 🥁 solo. A great rock drummer has to be right there and leave room for the music! Bill

If you're the best then you're the greatest. Like Muhammad Ali was the best heavyweight and also the greatest heavyweight. He even said so himself. It makes no sense to say someone was the best drummer but not the greatest drummer. If you are talking about Buddy Rich being the greatest drummer but not the best rock drummer, those are two different categories and you are not talking apples to oranges. But apples to apples, to say someone is the greatest is the equivalent of saying they are the best.

He missed the greatest drummers: Ginger Baker. Danny Carey. Carl Palmer. Terry Bozzio. Vinnie Colaiuta. Carmine Appice. And he puts Dave Grohl on his list? Please, he's not even in the top 100. Carl Palmer would SCARE me sometimes when taking a solo, and I would often worry if he would find his way back. Not at all to detract from his success and accomplishments with ELP. In the eighties, Cozy Powell’s brief replacement of Palmer brought a rock solid feel to the trio that was unmatched IMHO. A tragedy to loose such a talent to a high speed motorcycle accident. I always thought Palmer was a better drummer after the Powell intervention. Bill

As a drummer one of the coolest things to me about Palmer's drums was that his toms were tunable like tympani so he could match his tone to whatever key they were playing in. Truly a remarkable drummer AND a fabulous musician.

No question about it. In fact, all her recordings are being REMASTERED in DOLBY ATMOS in time for Christmas 🎄!
