It will be good news if they are ahead of schedule.

It will be good news if they are ahead of schedule. Maybe a double edged sword depending on a solid firmware upgrade . Or confidence one is right around the corner . Being a glass 1/2 full type I hope the later is the case

Being a glass 1/2 full type I hope the later is the case My take is anywhere who gets one expecting perfection will be disappointed. Issues have been brought up and at least for me if I was to purchase one I would know what possible issues I could face. I’m on the fence but a couple issues that is currently preventing for me is the lockup’s and the sound pops or dropouts. I can expect some bugs in a new product but issues with sound and sound dropping and popping is not something I think I want to deal with. It’s an audio processor first so I want audio to work. I’m thankful others are willing to help us potential owners by providing valuable feedback to keep us educated.

Monoprice has surely come a long way the past few years. A contender for sure.

You mean they didn't promise it and yak about it and redux yak about it for 4 years? They just, BOOM, come out with it! Highly non-Emotiva!

Okay, before anyone gets out of sorts because I'm not chiming in, let me just say this, the Monoprice unit doesn't have the inputs and outputs I want. 😉😁🤣
Actually, really it doesn't. But I just wanted to be fair to Emotiva. The RMC-1 is better equiped in that area, BARELY.
But the Monoprice has some other modern things the RMC-1 will never have. This should be interesting.
I have ZERO facts so at this point its only conjecture, but I'd be VERY surprised if this year we also don't hear from the likes of Anthem and a few others. The AVM-60 was their direct answer to the XMC-1. I doubt they won't pass up responding to the RMC-1. Just my Vulcan brain working here. 😆

Seems like the Monoprice competes with the RMC-2. Pay a little extra for the Roon. Having no expansions is a deal breaker for me. I guess we’ll see how it all pans out in the end. If Emotiva didn’t let me know ahead of time what was coming on their end I probably would of waisted a lot of money never thinking a system like the RMC-1 would be in my reach so buying something I’d just now be upgrading.

Wonder if it will have a proprietary upmixer baked in 😉

Likely an ATI built processor. Really? I didn't think that ATI made anything other than Amplifiers. The Monoprice Desktop Headphone Amplifier and DAC is also using AK4493EQs ... I would hazard that whomever made that DAC is also a likely contender for this Processor. Anyone know the answer to that? Casey

Last year they announced the ATP16 processor for delivery in March 2016: www.soundandvision.com/content/ati-goes-diracThis processor looks vaguely familiar A very nice piece though 1-pair of balanced inputs would be nice. - Rich

For people like you wanting mega channels for their dedicated HT, I totally get where you are coming from. The deal is though, that 5.1 is for most people, 7.1 is more a niche, 7.1.4 is even more a niche, and 9.1.4 or 7.3.6 is even more of a niche. That's why it's my belief that the 16 channel processor is the end game for 99.9% of the population. Its for this reason I think the RMC-2 is going to have a lot of company very soon.

Bonzo, I agree with you on this 100%. I have a 7.2.4 system and I think that for 98% of people that is the most that will be installed. If I was building a new theater room then maybe I would do 9.2.6, but I honestly doubt it would sound any different than my 7.2.4. Maybe in a very large room it could make a difference, but man you are looking at a real niche setup.

100% agree which is why I can see the RMC-2 was really a good move it seems especially now. On the avsforum people swear by the impact of the wide channels on good content so I assume no matter the size of the room there is benefit though I’m sure size has some sort of impact.

I think the mere thought of wides makes total sense. It's the biggest gap in a 7.1 set up. And it's in front of the listener, which is definitely more important than behind. Unfortunately my room just does not allow for it. If I had a dedicated theater, I'd want it large, but not huge. I think my ultimate theater would be 9.4.6. But as it sits, its 7.3.6. (well not quite, as I'm using 4 speakers for the back 2 channels).
