I have dedicated home theater room, stereo only setups, and headphone/computer setup as well. Although I absolutely love my other two systems for different reasons, I tend to spend most of my music listening at headphone/computer rigs. I tend to rotate different headphones and headphone amps setup depend on the mood. Currently, Emotiva DC-1 > Headroom Home Balanced Headphone amp > Sennheiser HD600 are in rotation. I am sure you probably heard about Headfi.org but that is the place to hang out if you want to know all about headphones and stuffs. It's almost information overload, that site exploded in last several years. I store frequently used headphones in stands and rest of them in plastic bags and store in container.

I’m a member of Head-Fi as well. Just posted a review of the Sennheiser HD800, if you get a chance give it a read and post your thoughts. HP bring a different type of listing, and I appreciate it so much but my first love is HT followed closely by two channel.

I Use my headphones late to reduce noise in the house. TV watching and sometimes just click over to the music channels. Video games are interesting since you can hear things you'd otherwise have to turn it UP for, which others in the house usually wont' stand for.....or SIT, for that matter.
I only one one set in-use and have a very old set of 10$ Sony which I'd probably use in bed, after getting some of those foam pads....which they need. The Sony is interesting. Real good sound, better than the original Apple Ear Buds and more comfortable, too.

Pretty new to the whole headphone thing. Received a pair of HiFiMAN HE-400S cans for Christmas and I'm really impressed. The whole "band inside my head" thing takes a bit getting used to, but the sound I'm hearing is both smooth and clean. Currently, I'm just driving them from my iPhone and laptop currently. I'm in the market for a Bluetooth aptX HD/DAC/Headphone amp unit right now.

Others have been down your path and might have something to say which will keep you from either a blind alley or outright mistake. www.head-fi.org/you may want to register for the forums?

I love my Sennheiser HD-598CS. Closed back with plenty of bass and very comfortable. I use a Schiit fulla in my room and a Fiio portable. I rarely listen to them but I have about a dozen pair in total. Working at home gives me the option of listening to full systems so the headphones take a back seat.

This'll be interesting. Several competing planar designs now on market. This isn't even counting the Electrostats, like STAX.
I think Monoprice has some? HiFiMan? Audeze? OPPO?
not exactly a crowded market, but certainly should be competitive.
Are all the drivers original design or is there an OEM out there in the woods?

I use planers from MrSpeakers now. Love them.
I just made the mistake of listening to some electrostatics... and now I'm on the verge of dropping $15K on a new e-stat amp and headphones. I think I need to go to rehab.

Might even be some available 'Pre-Loved' at substantial savings. www.audiogon.com/listings/lis9a370-stax-sr-007-mk2-electrostatic-headphones-on-earA massive savings given what you are thinking of spending.

Yes I've actually owned Stax in the deep dark past. The headphones I'm looking at are $3K but the amp is the big expense.

I’m curious as to how many of us use HP on a regular basis? What HPs you own and why you like them? DAC / Amp combo? How often do you use HPs? Specific uses for using them. Post a picture of your HPs @ rig if you have one. Show us your cans! 😋 Over the past 6 months I’ve taken to the use of HP in the evening as to not disturb the house. Picked up a couple of Massdrop cans, dynamics and a planar to add to my first set from many years ago, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. Very economical cans and were good enough at the time. Most of us with full two channel systems will require much better cans to complete with the SQ we are accustomed too. Just curious about our group of enthusiasts. Do Bluetooth earbuds count? Bill

Happy New Year Mr. CEO I wanted to join in the survey. I have two pair of head phones. A cheap pair that I got from a neighbor that fold up these I use at the computer, they get the most use only because they work better with my glasses. Then I also have my trusty pair of Sennheiser HD 555's I've owned them for years I use them for music late at night. Being no stranger to cheap Chinese gear I have a Qinpu Q-2 Hybrid vacuum tube power amplifier that I use as a headphone amp it sounds pretty decent it's articulate, and harmonically pleasing at a real reasonable price. It also has 2.5 watts a channel so it can drive speakers. That's how I roll, I use to buy Grado Labs but the ear pads use to make my ears sweat.

I just got to your second question I brought a head phone holder from Sennheiser it clamps on a shelf and you hang the headphones on it.

Here's how I store my headphones. Cheap and available online or at ANY 'beauty supply' place. I painted mine with a 'clear' which tended to dissolve the styrofoam..... Attachments:
