Oh the bass line just RIPPPSSSSS throughout the house with 4 12" subs and 8 10" subs between Tekton's Ulfberhts and 4-10s!

That's nice! I've seen Chick lots of times, most recently with Steve Gadd at the Blue Note NY in 2017. And saw basically this band except with Michael Brecker on sax in 1980.

Gadd said in a recent interview that he has written a book during his COVID break from touring and traveling (have not seen it yet). That could be a very interesting read! It’s hard to think of notable musicians he Hasn’t played with. I had a most memorable evening with Steve back in 1972 where I was able to set up stereo mics. in front of a 16 piece jazz band with Steve Gadd driving it. I got hours of blood and guts performance out of that evening.Steve came down from his “perch” on some of the breaks to hear some playback. I was but 17 and intoxicated with what was happening there! Among those players were Mike Brecker, Bill Watrous, Tom Malone, Jeff Layton, Danny Stiles and Dean Pratt.

After watching this documentary about Jaco last night and having dreams about his music most of the night, I had to pick something to listen to this morning. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TviJ3ccaSXMI decided on Honestly, a collection of bass solos from Jaco's last European tour before he died in 1987. Brilliant music! Also ... an interesting challenge for the Dolby and DTS upmixers, each with their interpretation of spraying two channel into multichannel (in my case 7.1.4). Most times the ethereal looped accompaniment ends up in the surrounds while the direct solo stays up front, creating a musical call and response across the room. www.allmusic.com/album/honestly-solo-live-mw0000677131

Just heard about this release of the complete Lighthouse recordings by Lee Morgan. Sunday listening ... 451 minutes, just like being there!
