Slot loaders, eh. Tray loader wins for functionality, ergonomics, and less risk of disc damage (especially for wives and kids). I've never considered stuffing my wife and son in a slot . . .

The speculation makes me want to wait on the ERC4 instead of jumping on the DC-2, but............

Right,,,,,yeh! Welgo with that,,,,,,,everybody slowly steps backwards out of the room,,,,,, 😄 Thanks for the compliment Nick. I know if I were to be completely honest, I would have written "always right," but I thought that might be a little too truthful for this forum.

The ERC4 is listed as unavailable. Any estimate on ETA. I am sure the tarriffs are having an impact on the price. Maybe that's why they are not coming ashore yet?

I could get roasted for saying this, but what the hey! I think what Emotive really needs to make is a well engineered network streamer that is roonready, and can also access other streaming services on the internet, among other bells and whistles... I think a DC-2 or ERC-4 equipped with such a streamer would be highly competitive on the market, not to mention future-proof itself, ensuring almost iron-clad durability in a market plagued with all too frequent incidences of obsolescence. Such a streaming feature could be a real winner, at least in my book, but I strongly suspect that it would be a winner in the books of many other enthusiasts as well, depending on its specs and the price-point of the ERC-4 or DC-2, of course.

They were given that suggestion many times in the ERC-4 ideas thread. Either they don't agree, or they have other plans. Appears the only 2 ideas they did follow were in my very first post in the other thread, make it have digital inputs so it can be used as a DAC, and center the tray so right handed people can use it better. After that, it appears its much the same. Not that that's a bad thing. Oh, it will have a different drive since one of the main reasons the ERC-3 is being replaced is because of the old drive being discontinued.

Since it is the title of this thread, just have to say, although not surprising, there goes another Emotiva release date down the drain.

They are in transit here. We are even flying units in too to get some here faster. Believe me, I wish we could just teleport them here.

Not to derail this thread further, but if I was interested in a streamer I wouldn’t want it tied to an ERC or DC product. Many have mentioned wanting it to be part of a processor (like an RMC-1 module), but a standalone box at a good price point would probably be the most flexible.

They did talk about that at the last Emofest...they would have a streamer that could be an add-on module in the RMC-1, the same thing as possibly a "built into the DC-2" as an option, and a stand-alone box. I'm not holding my breath for any of those at this point. Maybe they will come, maybe not. After all, several years ago at another Emofest, they had a prototype streamer, but that never came to market either. Mark

Have them made in Canuck land, our dollar is low, bargain for you guys and quicker ship times, send some builders up and I'll convert my garage into a ERC-4 build shop

Mark I have a fun little DIY project I will eventually post here where I have created a module for the RMC-1 using a raspberry pi running Kodi. I used the laser here to cut the platform so it can properly mount inside the chassis in one the of the expansion bays. You could easily swap the micro SD card in the Pi and run Volumio too as a module.

This may be a generalized post at CD players, but in reality its just another safe poke at people who still like CD players. I don't get it. Why do people who no longer use CD players almost always feel the need to poke fun at players still existing, and/or at the people who still like to use them. Its almost always snide sarcasm with a hint of "how stupid." Yet you almost never hear people who like CD players dissing people who use streaming or some other way to get music. Why do people who stream feel they are so superior? I don't get it.

I disagree to an extent Bonzo as I feel like SOME of the people who still listen to CD's throw shade at people who have to listen to crappy compressed streams.
